I'd still like to see the Sisters get a read-through of Mangagamer's script before the company releases them. This way, the Sisters can at least be proofreaders/consultants.
Either way, a step in the right direction.

You should at least take the proofreader job, usually its obvious errors that get missed. I am sure everyone who played translated games have notice this occurrence. I know it is easy to miss silly things
Its not like you will be the only proofreader... Last edited by Daisu; 2009-08-06 at 00:35. |

With all due respect, and without any intention to be rude now, the Mangagamer version most likely won't cost more than 25$ (the japanese version cost 21$ at Himeya now), so even if someone bought the japanese version, it's not like 20-odd bucks will cost a fortune to anyone who would be really interested. Just think about the people who bought the fantranslated Nitroplus games in original japanese (about 100$ each imported), and they will have to buy all those again for like 50$+ if they want to play/replay them again in english (not to mention they have to wait for years when they finally go on sale). Their situation is much worse, yet no one really complained.
Additionally, by supporting MG they will definitely bring more story centered title over to the West for us. I do think the Twins' work is one of the best fantranslation currently in existence, however as someone following the VN translation scene, I'm a bit disappointed to see one VN translated twice (especially a really long doujin game with difficult text), while there are so many awesome translation-deserving title never ever getting any translation. Of course I admire and respect the tenacity and the love the Sonozaki show toward Higurashi, and I absolutely don't want to criticize anyone, so I deeply apologize if anyone was offended, as it was not my intention.

But seeing as this is an extremely good thing to happen, that no one really realistically thought was going to happen, why not support it?
I have bought the original games as well and from my point of view of this, it seems like this is a very selfish way for people to think.

Well, the best reasoning might be because not everyone has access to buying MG's software. Also, some people like to have physical copies of their games.

As for the TIPS, you can view them after finishing a chapter or in the TIPS menu once you have finished the game. |

Additionally, there is uncertainty about whether the MG effort will be cross-platform like the fan translations. I hope it is, because even though I've bought the original, I'm more than willing to buy it again if their translation is also cross-platform.
