The 'remake' is to commemorate the publication of the novel.

In any case this is an odd choice seeing how only some panels are redrawn while the rest of it is mostly the same. Seeing updated Kitahara in her first panel only to find her design reverting back to the old style in the next page was hilarious.

What a perfect masterpiece manga, this is what would happen if an author didn't restricted himself to "Heroine" must win rule or "Your new crush" victory.
Simply Kurosawa get his end girl from most unrelated girl in his highschool life where them barely talked. That is how real life work people get married not with the boy or girl they had crush on childhood on at highschool they end with their soulmate whose them meet in journey of their life.

I wish we would get anime news, such of great manga need more recognition.
I heard the author is mangaka in WSJ can we hope for this chance?

Best of all, she was a minor antagonist; not your first girl, 2nd girl, or a childhood friend, whose existence can be easily overlooked or forgotten by readers and then she was swiftly swept everyone off and claim the victory within a few chapters before we even realized that we already rooting for her.

Yay, so it's confirmed Kurosawa is with Maiko even ten years later and going to marry. I was quite irritated when some people tried to make both guys relationships disfunctional based of novel and pushed kuro to get together with library girl instead, even though aesop of was pretty directly opposite (That relationships is not just rainbow and sunshine, but still worth pushing through).

That said it isn't clear if afro and library girl are still together as well. I must reread whole thing one of these days.
