For $997? I'm also going in August (although from Chicago which is closer) but so far I've found some for about $700.
I need to buy the ticket soon. I’d say $700 isn’t such a bad price for a round-trip to Japan. |

Yeah I thought so too, until I was told it was more likely to be near an airport. Someone even said Kansai Int'l Airport, where there was a Pop Cultural Festival sometime ago. Which included cosplay. And, yes, KIX does have fery service (though only to Kobe Airport).

I just searched on www.cheaptickets.com. If you have no specific dates for arriving and departing, they have a nice feature to let you see flights for days before and after a date you select. That's how I was able to find the cheapest flight. I haven't checked it in a little while though, hopefully it didn't go up. The airline was US Airlines I think.

I'm living in Tokyo right now! Really, it's anime/manga paradise. Anime airing on TV constantly... Manga piled up in bookstores... I really like it here. School's a ton of fun (we're going on a grad trip on Tuesday to Kyoto), the people are nice, the food's tasty... Yeah, Japan's pretty awesome.
Too bad I'm moving out this summer... I've been living here for 10 months now, to learn Japanese and go to school.

I'm not quite sure. My family moved to Minato-ku, and we went to some school offices and stuff, looked at a few schools, and Roppongi J.H.S. looked like the nicest. It probably is, and it happens to be so close to Roppongi Hills (which we call Roku Hiruzu^^), the TV Asahi station, and everything...
I still wish I went to school in Ikebukuro! Where there's a huge anime shop called Animate - the place is quite awesome!

The school I attend is just a normal Japanese public school. http://blog.naver.com/haladflire65/100052939976 Some pics, if you'd like... The first three are ones of my neighbourhood, Azabu-juban, the fourth is the Hachiko statue in Shibuya, the fifth to the eigth's just random fish-shaped bread... Nineth to the thirteenth are photos of my school. http://blog.naver.com/haladflire65/100056232689 More school pics! This time, inside, during class. Is it really different from schools you know?

As for the school, I think most schools are pretty much the same both in Japan and Korea - you know, Westernized, as you said. But I think the way we handle our school events and stuff like that's very different from America.

It's nice to meet a fellow Korean
I wish i could speak japanese fluently, i've been learning it for about 6years now, but i believe i won't be able to learn proper Japanese unless I go to the country... I want to watch and read manga RAW..><; I always have to wait for the subs...-.-; Ah... School events... Would be nice to visit a school in Japan... For me, I'll most prob go as a teacher ( graduating next year ) Just wondering, are the manga and anime stuff expensive? Like figurines.. models... manga.. |
