Just watched the first episode. No idea why I didn't do it the moment the first ep aired, because this was very good stuff.

The visuals were striking. Especially the Megumi dream sequence, with psychedelic trance-esque feel to it. I like the art style, too. It looks so familiar, but also has this fresh feel to it.

I'm also glad this is a classic vampire story. Not about vampires trying to co-exist with humans and fit in society.

Definitely need more.

Episode 5

Spoiler for episode 5:

- Noooo!!! Toru died. I was expecting him to die since a few episodes ago, but it was still very sad seeing him die in this episode. Even though in the beginning of the episode it seemed like it was all a dream, I didn’t believe it was all a dream not even for a second and I was right in doing so since it wasn’t a dream at all.

- Yuuki has been truly affected by Toru’s death, so much that now he is angry and ready to face Megumi; he is not scared or hesitant anymore. The scene when Yuuki tore up Megumi’s postcard was great, it was as if he was telling her “You shouldn’t have messed with my best friend”.

- Masao…I don’t like him, but I don’t hate him either…I think he just a very insecure and selfish person who doesn’t know how to express his real emotions and feelings in a proper way. I wasn’t sad during the scene he was bitten by the chubby vampire but I must say that I wasn’t expecting for that to happen in this episode; it was a cool surprise and it was nice to see that Yuuki isn’t the only person to be able to sense and see vampires.

- Mmmm…this episode brought more questions to my mind: “How long does the bite marks last on the skin on a person before disappearing?” “Why people quit their jobs after being bitten by a vampire?”

I’m so looking forward to episode 6 and to hopefully find some answers to my questions.

I just got into watching this show. Well it's nice that everyone's enjoying this show but honestly, this is boring the hell out of me. I just wished something would happen.

Well I'm glad that freak idiot got attacked because I couldn't stand that dipstick. I mean usually characters like that should have a past to explain why they're like that but it seemed like he was just always like that for no reason at all and that just doesn't make sense. So I figure that little girl is head vampire or something? Because those Fairly Odd Parents weren't expressing any particular intelligence like the little girl was. They seemed to be acting more like that blue haired guy with the two horns. And he seemed to be acting equal to the stalker girl when she bit Mr Nice Guy. And is that purple haired guy gonna be the one to slay the vampires or something? Because he looked similar to that guy in the story the Abbot with the glasses was telling.

As you plainly see I'm not good at remembering names.

I still think it's just Megami screwing him. The "psychic sense" happened with Megami too before she visited the mansion back in episode 1 and it didn't do her much good. Perhaps it just a stylized way of having them feel unsettled.

I'm more curious why Natsuno did nothing when Tohru was attacked.

I'm not sure if i'm correct here, though in past vampire stories, i remember them being able to stop people from moving by attacking their fear. Maybe it's the same here, or there's a completely different reason that we're not aware of yet.

I got a similar impression. I felt as if Natsuno was fighting to move during the attack on Tooru but couldn't. It was as if he was paralysized not just physically but vocally as well because his "Stop!" screams didn't seem to be said out loud until after Megumi was gone.

First, maybe its not your kind of show, there's another 18 eps at least so its in no rush, a lot of this set up is important to the story, but it does pick up. Possibly soon.

Second, they kinda showed part of his story earlier in the show whereas the manga showed it later (just after this). I didn't feel the anime conveyed it correctly, especially since so little of him had been seen when they showed it

Spoiler for Very very minor spoilers, probably already skipped in Anime:

Being the youngest son he was pampered by his father, given all the attention, the favored etc. which obviously caused him to become spoiled which in turn negatively impacted his relations with others since he thought himself special (so when people treated him poorly it aggravated him, why do they treat me this way when father doesnt). After the stepsister showed up and their father had a grandchild, they became the new favorite, Masao was left behind and he couldn't cope with the change from pampered to ignored, he picks on the kid out of spite, which angers his father, which causes him to be more confused why he's suddenly being treated differently (this is shown in the newest ep too).

He is a really pathetic person, part of that due to his own inability to cope or accept that he isn't someone special or everyone's favorite (his dislike to natsuno is similar to his nephew, tohru was his friend, new kid Natsuno moves in and also becomes his friend, masao's "position" was threatened again) but also in part do being raised rather poorly. Really I cant hate him myself I just feel an intense pity.

Pretty sure he was paralyzed in fear, the corpse of a dead girl who used to stalk him crawled out from under a bed while saying his name in a cute voice. This fear had been building up through his "delusions" as well, also the feeling of being safe suddenly coming to a screeching halt by her appearance wouldn't have helped either.

Too bad in her current state she'd probably end up killing anyone who gets close . Do wonder what kind of state her mind is in though. Sure the Yuuki obsession is still there, but the whole killing anyone who gets close to Yuuki is new.

Ok I really didn't feel bad for that guy at the end. Sure at times you get the feeling he is just really awkward and can't express himself properly, but other times you just feel he's a jerk. Considering we can tell that little kid is going to die those comments are all the more unnecessary. Though a concern is that if he does turn into a vampire like Megumi he'll probably go after the rest of his family and it leaves me worried about them.

Too bad about Tohru. Honestly I thought he'd last longer than this, but you could tell when Natsuno was talking to him that he was done. Another victim in this whole situation.

Yes, it does look like they are going for an endgame--which makes one wonder what their past is--have they come to villages before and destroyed everyone, or are they planning for a special vampire conclave here?

It seems that no one likes Misao; but I, personally, don't like his family either (the people who made him that way), and hope they will all be dealt with.

I've often wondered why don't they just rob a blood bank. It's easier. It leaves the population alive and easier for you to blend in.

They have to move on after they decimate the town. No one will be left to feed on. No business for the area. The town will fall to ruin.

One vampire story I read explained that it's the adreneline in the blood from the victim's fear that is really what the vampires crave, not just the blood itself. I'm not saying that's the case here, by the way.
