Yeah, not the best thing.
They'll get over it.

Not just Kallen and Nunnally, but Suzaku and Milly would be pissed off if they found out that Lelouch is alive.

I have no problems with a Season 3 for Code Geass. However, it would have to take place as a remake of R2/alternate universe type setting because the 2nd season seems unbalanced, and situation with the plot was unresolved. A Mai Hime type setting to explain everything, without the re-introduction and the rushed plot, would be needed before the story could continue. The series is popular enough to make that happen.

Except it won't, because Okouchi and Taniguchi have said, EXPLICITY and without statement retraction, that R2 is the end. Stop bawling just because your OTP didn't happen.

That matter is up to Sunrise. If they feel that there is an opportunity to make money off of Code Geass, the company could make Okouchi and Taniguchi an offer that they would find very difficult to refuse. The fanbase is there. The money is there. Anything could happen. Just like Evangelion.

Yes, Anno never ever made any PUBLIC STATEMENTS about Evangelion ever ending, did he? No, he didn't.

We've had tons of people go back on their words. Anything is possible in the future, however unlikely.

It's not Okouchi and Taniguchi who control the purse strings is it? They may make a continuation without them, or SUNRISE may change Okouchi and Taniguchi's minds. It's not like the story cannot be continued: peace is fragile, Geass is not explained, there are about a thousand ways they could make the story work. Any good story is open ended to continuation because life is open ended. It's up to Okouchi/Taniguchi and SUNRISE to decide if the story will or will not go on, not any of us. But if the money is there and that's what the fans demand, continuing the story is a likely outcome.

And Okouchi and Taniguchi, and most likely Sunrise if they accepted Taniguchi's decision (and they probably have, and Taniguchi has heavily implied that R2 was to be his last work as a director), have clearly said Geass will not go on.

You are quite right. There is so much to Code Geass that needs to addressed, which R2 had failed to do. And the franchise is doing very well. The damand is there, as well as the fanbase to keep it going. I would love to see the staff to a remake of R2 first before doing any other Code Geass series. Especially since the staff was not satisfied with the overall outcome of it.

It's easy to be persuaded if Sunrise provides enough money to change Taniguchi's mind to do a director's Cut of R2. It's been done before. Mai Hime is one of the best examples of how a remake could become even more successful than the original. In fact, they are even doing a Full Metal Alchemist remake that follows the manga. And this was possible becacuse the series was so successful, as is Code Geass.

Yes, because the director didn't want to give up on the Mai franchise.

And the fans convinced Taniguchi to continue Code Geass when he considered leaving. The fans could convince him to do a Director's cut of Code Geass as well. The series is successful enough to make it happen. Jast as the fans convince Greg Weisman to continue doing the Gargoyles as a comic book that has become sucessful. Taniguchi could do a novel on Code Geass as well that would go into details about the plot and characters that could not be shown in the anime.

Again, proof. Nowhere did he ever state that the fans inspired him to do R2, at all.

Where it not for the fans, Code Geass could have ended at Stage 23 in the first season.

Ironically enough, though, that was where Code Geass originally intended to end. I see no problem in that.

I don't know why people complain about this. Code Geass is fine as a stand alone series, but there is plenty that could be addressed in a francise. If SUNRISE wants to continue it, it is their right to due so. If the fans want it, it could conceivibly happen. I would like to see more of the world of Geass, but if it doesn't happen, I'm not going to cry about it. R2 may be all that was planned, but plans change with time. Stories can continue to evolve, with or without the original writers (which isn't always a bad thing--though it can be. Another's person's take on a series can always be interesting). We're already seeing AU in the manga forms; I don't know what would keep anyone from making another series.

Especially when there is so much to be explored, such as the development of Milly's relationship with Lelouch before he died. Not to mention the importance of the Ashfords in Lelouch's life and their connection to Marianne. All of this was not explained at all in R2.

And your true reason for wanting an extra series surfaces. Why am I not surprised?
