Episode 1:
Pretty good episode. I feel like this could be a classic fantasy as there's already a decent amount with the fantasy setting. Not sure how I feel about Seimei yet but I think she could be an interesting character. Given the 2-cour status of the show, I think there's a lot that this season can explore with its characters. The animation and action has good amount of effort put into it.. I really want to know more about Raikou though. He has some funny chemistry with that Kinotoki kid. The Horrors in this season looks just as dangerous as the previous.

As someone who discovered the franchise with the first season, color me very very disappointed by this first episode.
Frankly, the atmosphere and setup for this season fell so flat that I couldn't really get interested by any character whatsoever. I don't really mind the change of setting, but the protagonists feel so... I dunno, mismatched and random? Even without any comparison with Leon and the other characters from the S1, there isn't any oppressive atmosphere or anything of such kind.

Episode 1 wasn't as explosive as I'd expected, but this was pretty good in its own way. I really like the art, animation's fine, the nice soundtrack... I'm not really sold on Raikou's voice, but I hope he'll improve.
Seimei and Raikou are interesting - it doesn't seem like they're in a relationship but even so they're kind of like what Ema and Leon would've been if they had actually became a couple. (Too bad that it seems Seimei is supposed to be around the same age as Raikou.) As for the "Heian era", though... Come on, guys, glasses and konpeito? You're not even trying. (Sure, S1 had anachronistic things, too, but that was random "Middle Ages Europe wherever whenever".) |

Not a bad first episode, even with Seimei goofing around in the majority of the episode, curious to see why Rakiou's can't actived his armor on his own, guessing it have to be something to do with his bloodline.

While not a bad episode it didn't have the impact of the first episode of the first (at least for me) series, the op and ed aren't as memorable either, also did someone forget to polish the armor or something? it looks cool and all but where's the shine?
