Yes, they announced the collaboration late last year. There's already a manga with the girls teaching the basics of WoT, and an official GuP voicepack will be released for WoT later, with Miho being slated as the first release.

The Russians noticed the massive jump in activity after Girls und Panzer got going, and I imagine the Japanese noticed the international attention from World of Tanks to their anime.

It does help that top Wargaming staff like The Chieftain and SerB already professed to liking Girls Und Panzer, with the former even referencing it in a couple of his videos.

I recall The Chieftan, in one of his posts, talking about windage and ranging and making note of how Girls und Panzer correctly depicted such things.

Yes, that particular bit was in his article about tank sights. He also noted in the now massive GuP thread in the WoT forums on how correct the M3 Lee's internals are, with the driver straddling the transmission between the legs.

And SerB also answered GuP on an interview question asking about what show he thinks shows tanks accurately. Kinda funny if you think about it, but it's good promotion.
