Let's not exaggerate. The best possible way to start a new year involves a combination of sex and chocolate. Watching a new series of Aria is actually the second best way to start a new year.

More news. The OP and ED singles have now been announced.

The opening song will be called "Spirare", which is apparently Italian for "To blow upon" or something along those lines, and is to be sung by none other than Makino Yui.

Of course it could also mean "Spirale", which would be "Spiral" but we'll just have to wait until we hear the song before we know which it is.

The ending song will be called "Kin no Nami, Sen no Nami", which means "Golden Wave, One Thousand Waves", and is to be sung by Arai Akino.

Singles for both songs are to be released on January 23, approximately two weeks after the series is scheduled to start airing. So some people might be waiting until after that date before they get to see any new Aria.

Wow, just two weeks? That's brilliant news.

I was quite worried about Makino returned for the OP --- you know not being apart of the OVA and all, though this is good news. Made my day.

All that is sounding of greatness, though my nitpick senses tell somewhere something fell short when Round Table feat. Nino isn't returning back for more epic EDs as well.

I'll take what I can get though.

Well, one of the meaning of Spirare is "to blow" (related to the wind for example) or "to emanate", but it's a quite uncommon verb mostly used in poetry.
A more common meaning, the very first one that came to mind for that word but still not so used in the common language, is "to pass away", and of course is not the case... but that title is quite creepy at first sight

Haha yes I saw it also listed as meaning "to pass away", but somehow I just couldn't imagine an Aria song with that title.

In addition to the single news, the bsides of both OP and ED singles are listed as being insert songs in the series.

The Yui bside is called "Yokogao", which means a side profile of the face.
The Akino bside is called "Torikago no Yume", which means "Birdcage Dream".
