Shana has two sides, the brutal albeit n00bish Flame Haze who ruthlessly hunts Crimson Denizens, and the little kid who likes sweet stuff.
After Wilhelmina bids goodbye to her in Hongkong, she travels alone, for some time landing on Europe, where she meets Sophie Sawallisch, a veteran Flame Haze who notices her lack of strategy in combat and her lack of human common sense (Shana's practically a Wolf Child in a sense). She continued her wandering and ends up in Japan, where she travels to Yosegi City and, later on, to Misaki City.

Zoetrope was hilarious in that aspect, I knew that no one ever taught Shana trivial things when she was training to be a Flame Haze but I never thought it was that bad .
She didnt know how to buy things from vendors, in fact I recall her trying to prove Sophie that she could once, resulting in more lulz. She had absolute 0 shame, walking stark naked into rooms after taking showers, etc...Sophie had to use some harsh punishment (along to yelling at Alastor for not teaching her such things as shame) so she could finally get the concept. Its also from that moment on that she started to hide alastor everytime she had to undress, etc...

Where can I obtain the plot summary of Zoetrope? Is it available in this thread? Senshigeia More information about power of existence can be found in Shakugan no Shana Terminology and Metaphysics Discussion Thread, posted by Kinny Riddle. The main point is: Quote:
We have seen in Shana S OVA Episode 2: Domicile that much younger Shana was very polite towards Wilhelmina when she asked her whether there is anymore important date to remember. Fast forward to slightly grown-up Shana, as seen in Anime Season 1: Episode 14, Shana was quite rude towards Wilhelmina who was preparing her for bedtime. So, what triggered the transformation in her atitude towards Wilhelmina, I wonder?

Wait, Viz has released Volume 5? So have they continued it again? After stopping for soo long?
@Game8910- I remember that scene in Season 1 of the Anime. I guess she was childish and immature though. I mean, right after that, she knew the responsibilities of being a Flame Haze and accepted Alastor which showed to me when she was completing the contract that she seemed to mature a lot in a short period of time...IMO |

In season 1, like episode 14 or something, where Shana remmembers the days when she used to train, I think she was like 12 years old, or something like that. To me, she was more alike Shana from the end of season 2 than when she meets Yuji. She must have been through a lot while she was alone fighting... |

I think that they are around that age. 14-15 seems about right. But, before that, in a little short mini series kind of thing. I think it went for a single entire episode. It was showing when the rainbow flamed guy that the previous enpatsu shakugan no uchite was alive, made the promise to her that he would train the next one and fight her in turn or something. So when Shana accepted Alastor, and the monster Mystes that killed everything besides humans was there and Shana defeated him and then went outside and fought and defeated the rainbow flame. That was with the motorbike guze no tomogara thing. How Bel-Peol gave a key or something to him to defeat Shana, but the Mystes got in the way and killed him while protecting Shana because she was a human at that time. At least that's what I remember...Please correct me if I am wrong.

Well.... With the long period of no volumes ever since they took away Baka-Tsuki's license to translate them, and it has been... What 2 years since a single volume has released from them, I'm not going to give hopes on them anymore...

Regarding Shana's age...well obviously its never given, and who knows how many years passed between her becoming a flame haze, her meeting Sophie (although it didnt look like a long time passed between the 2 events) and then meeting Yuji. I do think that in ACTUAL age they might be about the same age 15-16 but if I do recall correctly in novel 1 (ViZ translated) Shana is described as having the "looks" of someone around 12...sure its not her age but, Its the closest we ever got to an actual confirmation.

Really? I haven't read the Light Novels yet...
Oh! If possible, because I'm going to Japan soon, can any one give me any stores that may sell any of the light novels? I anyone here lives in Japan that is... I figured that because she goes through school in the Anime that she would be of high school age. But the Light Novels are far ahead...And this thread is about them, so Yeah. Ok. |

Well, previously, she wouldn't have the experience with socialising as much as she did, through-out. To me, she seemed to have the same level of maturity no matter where (excluding eating Meron-pan) but her opinion just changed on what life was about. She previously thought that she was 'just' a flame haze to defeat guze no tomogara, but when getting to know Yuji, she wanted to be with him more although she still does her job as a flame haze. If you get what I mean...
