Wow, it's like the Shana x Yuji x Kazumi triangle.

Kazumi loves Yuji, but Yuji loves Shana.

That's because......I don't know either.....

Paralleling Horizon and Shana just seems to draw the most kick out of both stories I suppose....I think....

Or maybe it's just the situation at home....

YES!! baka tsukki is translating vol 22 ^^ i wished they would focus on 1 ch at a time though :P must be a couple of different translators doing it

Looks like the whole volume will be out before we even get a proper summary

And god Pheles pisses me off, using kazumi as a distraction then as a shield

and i can finnaly understand how big this vol is the 1st ch is only 15% done but it was the size of a normal ch :O

For some of us, including myself, a proper summary of Volume 22 would make the understanding of entire translation of Volume 22 a lot easier. The summary is not compulsory here, but it is nice to have.

Actually, I didn't actually update the percentage, but it's about 30% now. Slowly working up.

Horizon? Pfft...try translating the entire series...

@To everyone else: When CE said 402, he meant v22. (And SAO's about the same length now). Horizon can go from 400-1000, I believe. And if you're discussing novel volume page numbers, Horizon should be taken out and banned for life.

And why does it feel like once you break through Takahashi's long winded descriptions, Horizon is far more difficult to translate than Shana.....not talking about terminology too...

one reason could be because you're used to the sentence patterns in Shana, since you have after all read 22 volumes of it, but Horizon is still pretty new to you?

In your head though, you know the language in Horizon is more basic....maybe it's just the mass of political discussions that needs getting adjusted to...

I think Horizon volume 1 is 543.

I never thought that the Japanese in Shana was very hard, it was always more the flow and occasional ambiguity. On the other hand, I spent half an hour trying to translate Ancient Greek, so maybe that's where the difficulty lies in Horizon.

Horizon is just difficult because clauses start piling up, and it's hard to shape into English. Reading it isn't much of a problem, since you don't need to dissect the sentence.

And then, words like vainglory, (I'm just going to use that word everytime I can.)

Sorry for my off-topic.

I understand it's big (or rather, light novels are generally "light") but I'm having trouble relating it to western standards. For instance, War and Peace is around 560k words long, The Eye of the World is around 300k words long. How many pages are these (or any other western book for which we know the word count) in Japanese? Does it vary as widely based on font etc? Just trying to get an idea for how long these Shana / Horizon monster-size LN really are. Equivalent of western 50k, 100k, 300k?

Here's a rough gauge, 280 pages --> 70k words.

Now now, back to work with you, and the same goes for me.

As estimated, Chapter 1 should be done within this week.
