Once again, they're how the characters are supposed to look like. The bug-eyed originals don't look like Hirai's designs at all, that's why they are changed.

Actually I think the original was quite consistent as typical Hirai style (as typical as Scryed.)
I guessed Hirai style is more popular when it was less error-prone, compared
to Mutsumi Inomata's (e.g. Cyber Formula Saga.)
AFAICT, the remaster is highly based on Inomata's style, not Hirai.

well enough so I think I don't need to further explain.

New animation (some mecha battles and characters are redrawn), aspect ratio (from 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen more or less), new eyecatch, some songs are tweaked from the original ones (if I’m not mistaken), and there are some omission and addition of scenes in some episodes.

Again, Hirai is the animation director for the remaster footages, which means he's personally touching up all the frames so they look like HIS style

Ok, I'm a bit behind, just finished last week's episode.

Just cracked up at everyone's reaction when a pink robot and a pink person with a very derp-y expression float out of that pod.
They could've fixed that, but I'm glad they left it, because it's absolutely priceless

edit: just to avoid misunderstandings: I'm talking about the animation looking weird, nothing else

Sorry, there's not that much, at all. her new design for this episode made her look too childlike.

That's the old footage... The old footage for the ep made everyone look like little kids.

Though the Special Edition scene between Flay and Lacus (animated by Hirai) did manage to make it into the episode. Didn't recognize any other new character scenes in the ep other than that.

Well, for one, if Destiny ever gets remastered, I do hope they get rid of all the reused battle scenes.

They already did that; the remaining footage was called "Gundam SEED Destiny: Special Edition".

Which should have been so for the actual series.
