[Manga] Character affinities

In recent chapters we've learned about affinities or elements. Naruto is currently learning about wind manipulation, and we already know that Kikashi is lightning element user. But what about the others?

So in this thread you are to pick a character, name their element, and tell why you think that is their element.

-Sai I think should have an affinity for the Suiton (water element) since for the obvious reason that he uses ink for his attacks. Then again I could be wrong since he used some sort of explosion jutsu against Sasuke that one time...

This is too hard to guess.
Since i would've thought that Naruto was either water or fire element because his chakra was special... and probably was fitting to counter the Kyuubi's chakra.

Then Kakashi said something about black & white / ying&yang so it could be that their are alot of different ways of using these elements.

Sasuke seems fire&lightning (this is uncertain since Sharingan enables you to use all techniques if you can copy it)
Kakashi is earth&lightning (i believe kakashi said this aswell)
Yamato is earth&water (he already mentioned this)
3rd Hokage seems earth&fire (since he used these elements alot)

[It wouldnt suprise me if most Hyuuga's have a certain affinity to Wind chakra]
Neji would seem both wind&earth (jounin)

Lee....i have absolutly no idea...could be anything he cant use jutsu's...

Chouji & Shikamaru would seem earth (most jutsu's or attacks never leave the ground and i never see them use aerial combat/jutsu's)

Gaara, Tenten...Wind (for obvious reasons)
Tenten - wind from her fan
Gaara (Kazekage) - Wind (to control the sand) / Earth (to give an increase in strenghten his defenses?)

My guess from Gai would be earth&fire (he used fire attacks, and most of his attacks are ground/earth moves...i think )

1st Hokage - the same as Yamato -- earth&water
2nd Hokage - water&wind -- water attacks (were extremly powerfull probably because they were mixed a bit with some wind chakra)

Kakashi says a jounin ninja can have more than two elemental affinities. So none of the ninja's cant really have a specific elemental affinity. NAruto has the strongest affinity with wind but later on he might develop fire or earth. Kakashi has earth lightning and water, since we saw his water skills when he was fighiting with Zabuza and Itachi.

Yeah but a Sharingan can use all elements if you copy a jutsu....so that wouldnt mean instantly that he posses/masters that affinity...right?

We already know that Sasuke is a fire/lightning type, kakashi is a lightning type, yamato is a earth and water type(hence his wood ability), and Naruto is a wind type. So what about the other ninjas that havent had their elements revealed yet? Which element do you think belongs to who?

itachi.... he is fire type..... because most is his attacks are based on fire..... he is likely to has another type but since it is not shown yet i can't really say.........

Sasuke is fire/ligtening type as every1 knows....

What i want to know is what type is Shikamaru???

I've been thinking about that too. I'm guessing if the jutsu goes against their natural elemental type then it probably either is weaker or uses more chakra to perform.

Kakashi has been seen using atleast 4 affinities. Suiton techniques, Katon techniques, Doton techniques, Raiton techniques.

My theory if that the Sharingan can copy any elemental justu but say if you were naturally gifted in Fuuton jutsu you can create numerous Fuuton jutsu. If you weren't gifted with Suiton jutsu but copied a jutsu in that area using Sharingan you could only use THAT one Suiton jutsu and not create more Suiton jutsu.

with the brain he has sitting in his skull, he could probably find a way to completely master all afinitys. Maybe him using asumas trench knifes is a hint that he may also be a wind type

Actually, a Sharingan user can't use techniques which are not from his mastery of elements. That is one of its limitations.

As far as I know:

Kakashi has lightning/water/earth elements.
Sasuke has lightning/fire elements.
Naruto has wind element.
Yamato has water/earth elements. (Bloodline limit makes wood)
Zabuza has water element.
Haku has water/wind elements. (Bloodline limit makes ice)

Then you have the rather elusive Ninpou's, secret jutsus which have different nature manipulations. Which has yet to be explained, heh, but Kishi dismissed the explanation pretty quickly in the manga.

Well, it was already revealed that Hinata had some affinity with water. Although it is filler, I take it as true.

Oh, my bad, but I'm not sure if we should take it for granted. The fillers have been true enough, but some of the stuff they featured was a bit dodgy. Perhaps we shall see soon enough, since Hinata has yet to be shown doing something with her team in the manga ^^

Kiba is wind as well I think, imo chars that mainly uses clone/transform techniques are wind.

Kakashi has 4! Not 3.

In the belltest in Shippuden he used a Katon technique, a Suiton technique, and a Doton technique. And we also know he can use Raikiri which is a Raiton technique. Add them up and theres 4! But in Movie 1 he also used his Sharingan to copy that Hyouton move, the ice jutsu.

Well, the manga confirms he should not be able to use Hyouton.

Also, as long as Kakashi does not use Katon in the manga, that belltest part will be considered only as "filler : does not count"

Ah yeah that is most probably true. Seeing as Sasuke could of copied Haku's Hyouton jutsu when he unlocked the Sharingan. So seems the Sharingan can copy only affinity jutsu that they have already mastered.

Judging from his fight with oro, i think the 3rd was a fire and earth type.
