It looks like Yuki is sitting down; if you enlarge the picture it becomes clear that Haruhi is leaning over to Yuki at an angle that would be quite awkward if both girls were on their feet. Second, notice that Haruhi doesn't have a coat. Since I doubt she was walking around in the cold weather without one it's probable she recently left a nearby building, forgetting her cold weather gear in the process. She may have simply decided against a coat, though.

Whatever happened that made Haruhi come to Yuki to cry on either involves the two of them explicitly, or resulted in some falling out with or hesitancy around Kyon. The fact that Haruhi came to Yuki in particular might say something about the relationship Haruhi has with the supernormal members of her brigade, but it could just as easily be chance that Haruhi isn't crying in Itsuki's or Mikuru's chest.

Yes, theories and speculation... can be a beautiful thing sometimes. Interesting input, J Drafter. Perhaps the only one who can truly know what's going on, is the artist... considering he/she had some meaningful purpose for making that.

This would make so much sense for Mikuru to do. I would also enjoy the character development and plot development more than "Haruhi cosrapes Mikuru, Mikuru mewls like an abused kitten, Kyon walks into the room and one minute later everything is back to normal."

Personally, I think the idea of Mikuru snapping and going on a homicidal rampage against everyone who abused her, enjoyed ogling her while she was dressed in humiliating outfits, or who could have tried to help and and chose not to would be kind of cool. Alternatively, it would be neat for Mikuru to meet a (non-canonical) version of herself that wanted revenge on the aforementioned people, and for the younger Mikuru to oppose her grim future self after much soul-searching and the realization that she had to stand up for herself. I am more or less pirating the dark future self plot from Fate/Stay Night, since that was a pretty nice concept.
