Need Help with 2 things on comp

I just got my laptop back form repair and forgot how to do 2 things and need any help that is offered.

1-My hard drive is 120gb but they partitioned it into 2 seperate drive and need to know the command to make it inot a single drive.

2-I need the command to convert my hdd to NTSF from Fat32 w/o use of a software.

Hi, I think I can answer number 1 well my answer is you can delete the partion in bios mode. When you install windows after booting the cd it leads you to the drives and you can delete the partions there and start reformatting and thats it. Anyways its based on my experience and there are many more pro here that can help..

Err you have to use software to convert fat32 to NTFS, there is no other way around it. Windows xp is software. The commands are listed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307881.
to delete 2nd partition

Obviously remove any data you need from the partition you are about to delete.

Very good answer. To make the conversion simple, based on Microsoft's commands, just go to START > run > type in 'cmd' and then

convert drive: /fs:NTFS

I should remind you that this conversion is one-way.

It is a multi-step process. First, you will have to make sure that the partition you want to remove has everything you want to keep backed up. Removing a partition will, essentially, erase that part of the disk.

1. Right-click "My Computer" and select "manage;"
2. Go to "Storage" and expand the tree;
3. Select "Disk Management";

4. Select the partition you want to get rid of and select "delete partition";

6. Finally, I have a solution that does not cost extra money. Partition Magic and Acronis do cost money. They would definitely simplify the process and if you do have either one, we can help you. However, I chose to do a free method. You can use the above steps and then you will have to download a .ISO. You will need a Live Linux distribution called SysRec at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=88964 . Download that and burn it to a blank CD. You will be required to restart your system and boot up from this CD to use the OS.
7. After burning the CD, restarting, and booting into the CD, follow the on-screen prompts. You do not have to type anything until the last question where you will type "startx" to enter the GUI mode.
8. Once you are in the GUI mode, you will be required to start "GParted"

9. With GParted, go to the right-hand side of the Window and select the hard disk you want to work on. I believe in your case, you will only have one option:

10. Observe the list of partitions. Since you have deleted the partition in Windows, it should be "unallocated"

11. To resize the partition, you will have to select the partition you want to resize. This is usually the one you want to make bigger:

Once you have selected the Partition you want to make bigger, click on "Resize/Move"

12. You will be shown this window:

Simply drag the arrow on the bar to make it bigger:

13. Once you have completed that task and clicked "resize/move," in the GParted main window, select "Apply"

You will be asked if you want to "Apply operations to harddisk," and click "apply" again:

After that apply, it should start working:

14. After restarting and going back into Windows, using Disk Management, you should see that the disk is using all of the space:

Or if you want to be cheap there is a free version you can boot to called gparted. Make sure you back up your data yada yada
