I take it as the "new" sword as the TRUE version, the one he was using the whole series was limited.

He doesn't use both the AD's at once, he puts the frist one on at the start of the fight, then presumably one of the AD breaks and his sword disappears when he trys to block the beam, he then takes off the broken AD and puts the second new AD on after Myuu encourages him and reforms the sword.

Maybe the VP AD was a little different, since she was an upperclasswoman? That was my explanation of the sword change. And it looks like he will get a special AD that maybe will make a new shape for the sword.
I apologize for laziness, but this is the final final episode? Will there be a next season? This series is very unfinished, in the end we got the "everything is a conspiracy" storyline that doesn't go anywhere. And of course, Akatsuki can world travel. What can't he do? This is one of the heroes that really can do ANYTHING. A very good episode, even if the fight was very brief.

View it this way (which is the way it is):
This arc is now finished, so a good point to end the series. The last bit was a sequel hook to let the viewer know that the story isn't over yet, which either means they want to make a second season (this doesn't confirm that there WILL be one, just that they WANT one), OR they just want you to read the LN. My money's on the former though. |

Umm... So did Phil Barnett truly die? Did they actually kill a named character? Wow, that was quick! He came, boasted like he was the second coming, and died just as quickly. Well, either way, I bet that Cocoon members will be the big bosses in the end.

Even if Akatsuki had lost, Motoharu ( pretty clearly implied he's stronger than Phil, at least ) and Cocoon would've just wiped the floor with Phil afterwards.

What I do like is that even though the blonde friend seems to have a secret agenda, he genuinely wants Akatsuki on "his team", and not planning some kind of double cross or backstab kind of deal.
And that new white AD they have for him clearly is a upgrade, wonder what that will make his sword look like.

Why do I have a feeling Akatsuki has been sliding in different dimensions before that he is quite experienced in getting back if he wanted to.
Heh There is loophole to not being able to slide back for a returnee as indicated by Phil. Akatsuki's brother probably told him how. |

They're trying to force Hagure Yuusha as the spiritual successor of Queens Blade as far as raunchy shenanigans and fanservice is concerned.
But that won't happen since the anime bombed hard and the LN hardly gained any sales. They'd be throwing money out the window by animating a second season. |
