That and the whole home-estrangement of Alto that is also feels very similar.

And space whales? GUNDAM CONNECTION?
You'll see. The "energy form" that appeared...

Spoiler for Flipper's bringing the heat:

If that profile isn't meant to match that of a certain group of marine mammals, then I'm a monkey's uncle. A nice bait and switch, making us think the whole "big bug, swarm thing" when actually all that is just bio-armor and weaponry that let's them fight and explore space in.

Nice thing you think they're space dophins with an armor, but it's too bad they aren't because Vajra are brainless and it's clearly hinted someone is controlling them.

Well the Vajra being pretty much dead and Ranka reviving it.

Hey where have we seen that before?

Spoiler:

From what we know is that there have been at least two contacts before.

One 19 years ago another 11 years ago.

I'm sure the UN Spacy has a suspicion that the Protoculture has something to do with this.

Since some records have been declassified that the public knows about it and would be creating a movie about it in a future ep.

11 years ago? When was that information revealed? I thought there was only the first contact 19 years ago and nothing since then.

11 years ago was when Ranka's family was killed.

k, I need to back up here. I always thought that the incident where Ranka's family was killed was the first contact. If that was the 2nd contact, then what was the first contact?

It's clearly not humaniod. You do see the flippers, the dorsal fin, and the tail right?

What an astounding episode. Episode 05 is up by the way.

Of note is the fact that not only is a Love Triangle developing, but a character support triangle as well. Sheryl in trying to break free of her obligations as a star is inspired by Ranka’s innocence and seems to indicate that she might have never made her debut on her own and was forced into the role of galactic idol somehow. She inspires Alto a little bit with her enthusiasm and Alto as we know is also trying to break free of his fathers expectations of him to carry the family tradition of Kabuki, and he takes something from her enthusiasm in coming up with song lyrics by realizing that he just needs to do what he feels is good for him and not worry about what others think. And Alto in turn inspires Ranka by reminding her of his talk by throwing the paper airplane which gives her the strength to make her debut right in front of a large (literally) crowd and start the circle of support around again back to Sheryl.

I'd be impressed if Sheryl has actually planned on gracefully ending her career at a certain point.

Sheryl saying ".. I'm all natural" was what killed me in that episode.

I could almost hear the "for now" on the end of that sentence.

I wonder if Exedol is flattered that there's a zentradi shopping mall named after him in the future

May also explain why there's female underwear on public display. The old guy really took to culture very quickly.

Meh The guy only likes to watch not touch. (Even if the Jamming Birds failed at least he saw girls in bikini. Max had that WTF expression when his wife auditioned)

Too concerned with the age gap. (One of the bridge bunnies offered a date. A gorgeous one at that.)
