The red frames were ugly and didn't suit her face imo. Other glasses would have been fine. That flashback showing her putting them on for the first time was very cute though. They were so big for her.

Izumiko really had problems without those glasses.
Looks like they weren't just for show. That exchange student really gave her quite a scare. Looks like Takayanagi is the new bad guy. The whole school is somehow off and full of weird people. Izumiko's new roommate seems nice though ^^

I wish someone would teach Izumiko something about using her powers. Even without being actively possessed, she obviously has enough power to be quite formidable, and I think she would feel less afraid if she knew she could protect herself from those shadowy people. Personally I'd like to see her go nuclear just to wipe the smug smile off whatshisname's face, but then I absolutely despise characters who always have that smug grin, and I always want to see them get beat down. It's not really Izumiko's nature to take the offensive against anyone, I think, but still it would be good for her to at least be able to defend herself properly.

Lol, got fooled by the two of the triplets. Their actions really mirror those of the typical osananajimi, even more so than Izumiko/Miyuki to be honest. Really thought they were childhood friends, until the big reveal that they're actually siblings. Well, it won't be the first nor the last time that I mistake siblings the way Japanese portray them in such works for the childhood friend. XD
And no wonder Izumiko's mom/dad wanted her to go to Houjou. Pretty much the best practice ground for developing her powers, with the whole school pretty much gathering people with spiritual powers from around the world. Finally, the girl mentioned that the vessel and her monk tend to be a married couple in the past? Gives me hope, considering that Yukimasa was telling MiyukiXIzumiko is impossible because of 'social status'.

Not exactly... Whatshisname inferred that the two of them were a particular type supernatural skill pairing: an exorcist and a channel. I'm not familiar with the specific Japanese legends he was citing, but pairings like that have shown up in other sorts of fiction. The basic idea in those cases was that the channel would allow themself to be possessed by whatever sort of unhappy spirit was causing trouble in some place, so that they could communicate with it to find out why it was causing trouble, then the exorcist would solve the problem thus quieting the spirit (or if it was a ghost, sending it on to the afterlife). Assuming the concept that guy was referring to is the same, then he's misjudged them. Miyuki may be no more powerful than the standard exorcist he's expecting, but I'm willing to bet Izumiko is way off the charts. I doubt he's expecting her to have much power at all, let alone be the host for a goddess.

Pretty nice start to a new arc.
I thought it was just going to be light hearted stuff for now but the plot is really starting to move forward. The lack of context is still hurting but the the intriguing mystery somewhat makes up for it. But still, the more the show reveals to us the more questions it raises and I wonder why Izumiko or any of the other characters aren't asking those questions.

WADAFUQ? I thought Kisaragi is the blonde haired guy with a female voice? So he crossdresses and wears a wig or something? I was so taken aback when that 'girl' introduced herself as the student council president, when the Kisaragi we met before looked so much different (not to mention manlier) than her.
No seriously... I know Jean can be either gender, but isn't Honoka a girl's name? So is that person a dude or not? Why the crossdressing? But I found my potential waifu of the season. Kanzaki-senpai. Oh god, long hair + ribbon + glasses = <3 <3 <3 Also, excellent. Osananajimi is making progress this episode, yes. I mean, when Miyuki went... "My abilities are already streched to the limit, and I can't support anyone... I have no confidence about what is to come, nor do I know what I'm supposed to do, nor what I'm good at. " I just can't help but add "Despite all of my shortcomings, I will my best to make you happy. So will you still marry me?" No seriously, what Miyuki has said sounded like the beginnings of a marriage proposal... all he's missing is the act of asking for her hand.

So, if Izumiko truly becomes the goddess' host, humanity will be destroyed? Okay... no pressure there... Somehow this must relate back to what Myuki's father was talking about earlier, but it seems to be the opposite of what he was thinking. Next episode... is she projecting herself in spirit-form? In that shot where there's obviously magic going on, for an instant her body is transparent.

So Izumiko will probably be the goddess's last vessel because manking will go extinct?
If the goddess is so concerned about us, she should've just stayed in heaven. No Himegami, problem solved It's not like anyone can force her to come down here. Last edited by TimeSkip; 2013-05-02 at 03:02. |

You don't think so? We know very little of her nature and her connection to Izumiko. The very fact that she is stating it as something someone else has to prevent seems to indicate that she cannot stop it from happening herself.

The situation with Takayanagi sure was resolved quickly. I never expected the fight to be so one-sided. The Souda triplets sure are powerful. I find it interesting that Miyuki is distrustful of them. It's true that there's no telling how they'll react if they find out Izumiko is a goddess' vessel. They seem like nice people but you never know.
Yukimasa made his return and he's as creepy as ever. I still don't trust him one bit. His little experiment with the school sounds fishy to me. I'm not sure what exactly he has in mind. The goddess also came out and she was as stunning as the last time. Her final words to Miyuki were very intriguing. If she possesses Izumiko completely, then humanity will be destroyed...? That could be Yukimasa's plan. Miyuki and Izumiko's relationship is progressing smoothly. They don't mind that others think of them as partners... how long until they turn into lovers? Quote:
*She's voiced by Emi Sarah Bridcut, who appears to be half Caucasian. She debuted earlier this year in Mondaiji-tachi. It's the first time I come across a half in the seiyuu industry. She looks pretty, by the way. Are you sure? What she said implied otherwise.

Episode 5 was good. A largely pleasant and interesting watch.
Still, I hope that the next antagonist (if there is one) gets a bit more lasting impact than what Wamiya or Takayanagi did. That opening conflict in this episode was a bit of a letdown (though the rest of the episode largely made up for it).

I guess it's no surprise that the first thing I thought, when I heard the guy's voice in a girl's uniform was Mari Okada but I guess that's just my fault for falling into Pocari_Sweat and co.'s trap into thinking Okada actually has a monopoly on these things.
I was a little confused by the fight because I wasn't able to remember everyone's names so I wasn't sure what trick was played until I watched the scene again. In a way it was kinda badass because I didn't expect Souda to be that capable but in a way I'm kinda disappointed that the threat from the Wamiya look a like was thrown away. He got humiliated. Still a bit annoyed that none of the characters are asking any questions that are whizzing through my head right now. How exactly does this magic work? What are the methods? How many students know it? Are the students that don't know magic, not meant to know it? How bad is it if they find out? It seems Sagara has actually had some formal training so there must be sources. If they can't be consulted then why not? Izumiko did at least ask perhaps the most important question (what is the purpose of the school) so I'm glad we finally have a little more context and I'm guesing we're going to get all the answers but it's still frustrating as hell. The characters are well developed though. Sagara can be an arsehole but in a very convincing way that feels neither weak/contrived nor overboard. And the show does have great atmosphere, particularly thanks to a great soundtrack. I thought Izumiko looked a bit silly with that make up but it somehow looked perfect when she became possessed so maybe it was intentional. If so that was pretty well played.
