A very lovely episode. The use of "Dango Daikazoku," was brilliant. The additions to canon

Spoiler for Examples:

The "what if" imagery of them as a happy family with Nagisa. Ushio sneaking out during the day to go to that hospital. The conversation with Fuko on one of Ushio's strolls.

were all very well executed. It ended pretty much where I expected it to, as well, though to deny some minor pacing issues would be silly. Two more proper episodes left to go and a 9/10 for this one.

KyoAni seems to cut back a bit on the production budget for this episode, but the emotional impact of Dango Daikazoku is nicely done. I actually felt how stinging Nagisa's memories are for Tomoya during the climax of this episode.

Boton is now a full-fledged boar. I wonder if Kyou keeps her indoor when work is over.

They went full speed ahead with the vocals this time around huh? (+1 one for the use of Dango Daikazoku, -2 for the intrusive and mood breaker use of the second part chorus instead of the first part). Fortunately there was a good dose of Fuuko and Tomoya's tsukkomi's to break down the 'I'm trying too hard to be sad' moments, and it was nice to see the mature side of Fuuko once again, but I did got the feeling that they were trying to stretch the episode, even when I knew they weren't! Aw well, this was a bridge episode after all.

the whole thing with Fuuko bugs me. The fact that no one remembers her and vice-a-versa, I mean...

It was really neat to see how Kyou's become. But I teared up a few times this episode, especially when Dango Daikazoku played. I'm interested to see how things play out next episode.

Actually, shortly after finishing this episode, I decided to revisit the first episode of Clannad. It's strange how that variation of Nagisa ~farewell from the bottom of the hill seems to take on such emotion coming back to look at it. One can't help but to look back and think that perhaps Nagisa really was speaking to Tomoya when she declared how that nothing can stay unchanged...

Yep. She came out and said she hadn't been able to go to the bathroom by herself, then collapsed and Tomoya felt her forehead and said she had a fever.

Nice episode anyway, albeit something of a bridge. As VRMN says, the non-canon stuff was cool.

I really liked how they showed Tomoya having flashbacks during these past few episodes (not really flaskBACKS this episode, but same thing). It makes it so beautiful and sad all at the same time. It shows that he's still grieving, only in a more positive way. When you lose someone you love like that, it's pretty difficult to just stop thinking about them one day and move on.

I found it funny how Ushio was reading the Tale of the Bamboo cutter, a.k.a. the Legend of Kaguya-hime. Isn't that a complex reading for a five-year old? Never mind the possible bad influence the main character might give her...

Yet another great episode. Anyhow, it was enjoyable and a nice change of pace, seeing alot of two past main characters: the still adorable Fuuko and... adult Kyou! With ponytail to boot. <3333. Now that, was great. And botan, now a full fledged hog! I'm surprised the parents aren't afraid to let their children go to a kindergarten with one. of it, no matter how friendly it seems. The tsukomi comedy between Tomoya and Fuuko was nice as well. Lol, Fuuko shouldn't be trusted with the world.

One thing I didn't like much was the sudden change in mood, between preparation for the sports festival and Ushio's illness. It was very lighthearted and then, suddenly the worry/tragedy. Maybe trying to convey 'anything can happen at any moment in life' kinda thing... Which I rather not see. I mean, its just too cruel to Tomoya and his family. I just hope Ushio doesn't have what Nagisa had. Wait, did Nagisa just have a weak body, and thus got sick easily? And the show never portrayed Ushio as being weak, so maybe not.

I believe Nagisa had some chonic but unspecified "illness."
