How does that have anything to do with it? It may take place in the '80s but it was made now. I'm not expecting panty shots every other frame, nor would I ask for that. But the best scene we got was that single frame in the second season.

They did a good job of subtly reminding you of the time period. You had the calendars, car phone, answering machine being a new product, and of course the lack of cell phones. I wonder how many people thought it was stupid they didn't have cell phones since they didn't know the time period is the mid '80s, lol.

It has a lot to do with it. Check out pretty much 90% of the serious romance titles from the 80s, and they won't have any fanservice. That's all i'm getting at.

As i've already explained, i'm just talking about my personally experiences with mature romance anime from the 80s, or set in that time period, and how they have little to no fanservice. I'm not talking about ero games.

That is a complete photoshop. I don't really get the point of it either. I would say the guy is praying to Yayoi, but it looks more like a grave than a shrine, lol.

That's a really good AMV. I don't know why the guy killed Touya, Yayoi & Mana though. Maybe he was a Rina fan. It was funny how Yuki was totally absent. And what's the the clips from that shoujo series? Werid.

The two minute mark the great. It was so awesome when she went in tongue first. You can fault the guy all you want, but I don't think any of us could have resisted her seductions.

After watching, I definitely an anime lover of the 80's despite White Album was animated a little late.
I can't believe this anime ended just like that, I want to know what happened to the rest of the cast and even Touya.

Any word on whether White Album 2 is getting an animated adaptation? I've been trying to track down who the seiyuus for White Album 2's characters are. I've heard that Hitomi Nabatame voiced Kazusa Touma (one of the main heroines) in a Drama CD for that game, but I have no idea whether she also voiced Kazusa in the game as well (not that such a thing would have been unwelcome).

I'm still a little miffed that Romi Park didn't sing in White Album anime (or even have a character song to sing herself)--she is by no means a slouch in that area. Was it because getting the rights for such superstars like Nana Mizuki and Aya Hirano (at least she was a superstar then) to sing too expensive? They got Rumi Shishido to sing, but was that only because Shishido is an independent and thus there was no need for the anime developers to pay an agency for her to sing?

I think that the undeniably successful sales of omnibus-style series like Yosuga no Sora and Amagami might inspire the developers of the White Album anime to make something that I believe would take away some of the sour taste the fans had with the anime. It's clear that Touya in the anime series has feelings for all of his "goddesses" already, so it would be too difficult to make branching stories that segue into character-specific endings--perhaps a 2 episode OVA for each could work.

I just finished watching this series and I was very disappointed by it. Touya was not an easy guy to like at all and everything he did to all those girls was terrible.

So I uh, marathoned this because of WA2.

I'd actually watched S1 back then when it aired, but didn't go back for S2 for some reason. This time I just went through the whole thing and oh boy, what a ride.

I gotta say this is one of the weirdest shows I remember watching, because from the start there's this relationship that's completely broken, to the point where it almost feels as it doesn't even exist, and yet both people in it, despite being pretty much aware of how it's not working out and doing their fair share of mistakes, still keep acting as if it's an actual thing. This was alright at first, because for most of the first season I kept thinking it was just a matter of time before the castle would crumble, but it got quite irritating as the series progressed for a very simple reason: I felt as if almost any 'goddess', as Touya called them, had more chemistry with the guy than Yuki, who was basically incredibly passive throughout the whole thing.

As it is, it felt as if all the other girls were a bit... wasted? And here it hurt the most with Rina. Back when Touya went to meet her after she got all stressed out with her career, I really thought he was going to get a grip there and start changing his attitude a bit. The reason that led him there was the same that led him around doing all the stuff he did prior, that's true, but Rina was always the girl that I felt he actually had the most significant development throughout the series.

She was a complex character from the start, and even if Touya would've seemed an unlikely choice for a beautiful, popular idol, it always did strike me that he was also THE person that would help her out when she felt the need to talk about things she couldn't do with Yuki. Think stuff such as that rooftop conversation from S1. The scene where she' surrendered' after his visit and they kissed one was easily one of the most heartfelt of the series for me. They were both quite devastated there, and the fact that both had a relation to Yuki definitely made it feel that, at that point, it'd have been interesting to see Touya get out of his 'goddess' mindset and acknowledge her as someone different, because it seemed like she was really expecting it to happen (scene where she introduces him as Yuki's boyfriend to Kanzaki, expecting him to deny it, for instance).

I see how doing this would've been, well, painful to Yuki, who had already said that she'd be "waiting forever", but to me that would also have been a good thing, because it'd force her to actually go out and... do stuff. Change that mindset. Maybe I'm being a bit unfair, because she also went through some harsh times, but how she chose to solve her troubles was basically being passive towards it throughout the whole thing, while Touya kept hurting himself and others. He's far from being a GREAT GUY, but whatever errors he did were a result of him actually interacting with other people. Yuki was... barely there, but she still ends up with him because of something that happened "in the past". I just don't really buy it, I guess.

Anyway, hopefully that's understandable and not a complete mess. I just finished watching it and wanted to put some thoughts together. It's not a flawless series, but I think it had some very strong moments. Unfortunately, the stuff up there makes me unable to actually think it's great, and it does make me a bit disappointed. But alas, it is what it is. I wish we could get another series like this with a character as interesting as Rina who actually had a shot at getting the guy. And maybe with a main character that is - or turns into - someone worthy of having such a girl by his side, of course, haha.

Touya was not an easy guy to like at all and everything he did to all those girls was terrible. Spoiler for Ending: Touya doesn't even choose a girl in the end, not any of them should pick him, but still... He doesn't apologize to Yuki either for everything he put her through or thank her for the medal. There was no closure for me at all with the ending and it left too many unanswered questions.
