Wow, that was uber colorful and the intro battle was definitely a smart way to draw people in. The tiny bits with the environments of computer programs, actually giving unique faces to the 50 bajillion of girls, the rose petals, glinting eyes etc. are all super win. Definitely super faithful to the LN, and definitely very, very enjoyable for the first episode. No complaint on animation, sound effects, music or pacing. ED seemed a little simple, but that's expected considering budgeting and not as catchy as I hope it would be (OP did kickass as expected and completely filled with MAD material), but the preview part was pretty entertaining.

Only thing I really want to note was I expected great animation and I definitely got that (if not a little bit more than I expected). Definitely would be one of the top contender of this year just solely on animation alone (assuming if it keeps up). I definitely used definitely more than definite number of times in this post but this is just awesome!

but Hisaka Youko's voice is wasted on that ending song

I mean, it's not a completely horrible ending.. it's just too conservative... her voice is suited for more daring songs

Ichika is easily the best character so far in this show. definitely good to see a male lead who isn't completely dim witted and doesn't whine about the situations he is put through.

Liked the first episode, opening scene was a good choice to open with, nice stuff by 8 But their... OP Sequence was pretty good but the ED while a nice enough song was pretty bland, not helped by the ED animation..

Ichika seems like a fairly good lead, much better than the usual guys in his position.. liking Cecillia.. I could listen to that Yukana voice all day.. Houki seems fun as well. Animation and art was mostly good, music was fine, voice work was nice, looking forward to the next episode.. but first I better catch this subbed..

His situation = male lead of a harem series, and see Angrypokstick's post as for why, also liked the way he handled some things with Houki which was much better than normal for a harem lead and I like how he handled things @ the end, seems like he has a spine.

lol, I don't know about others, but to me: harem + mecha = wonderful combo.

I bring this up because IS Academy, for all its technological trappings, is nearly indistinguishable from Constant Magic Academy. It helps that both schools have Yoko Hikasa as a sword-wielding love interest. That said, the show looks pretty entertaining. There's very few seasons where I don't watch love comedies, and the mecha aspect of it is also appealing. The suits are a little bulkier than I would've expected, but they get the job done and, hey, I must suspend my disbelief after all. The OP and ED are nice too. Think I'm gonna enjoy this one.

From the harem setting to the super special protagonist to... etc. But it was surprisingly fun to watch the episode. I guess it was because the tempo was good... shrug Stereotypical isn't bad. It could get better from here on (doubtful), but as of now, it looks like I should watch it for the occasional giggles. Anyways, I'm in for the ride. Saturn Beaver Home of Silent Prayer Join Date: Mar 2010	Spoiler for EP 1: I can kinda see how some diehard mecha fan would just regard this as run-of-the-mill harem with mecha, but personally that's what I expected from the start...I mean, right from the premise he's the only one male pilot in the world, there's no way harem won't get in the play. Besides, this episode is mostly a setup episode, still too early to judge. For all we know, it could be a harem with awesome mecha, Ichika alone seems...distinctive enough to elevate him above most male leads (this is actually more of a jab towards the standard male lead rather than compliment to Ichika) so it can be an interesting harem nonetheless. About the episode itself...well, I like it. The animation is simply superb, if the few minutes at the beginning is any indication, we'll be in for a great time. Besides that, the episode is mostly giving info about the setting they're living in, although it seems a bit boring as most of it is already given in the premise anyway. The love comedy bits...well, personally I don't find it to be that funny or inspiring, but it could be worse. Really, after going through Kirino for 12 episodes, Houki repeated stabbings seems tame and subdued, and Cecilia seems like a humble young lady. (I have to agree though, when was the last time England won anything? They claim to invent football, but they fail the World Cup bid, and with their pitiful performance in the last World Cup no wonder they haven't won anything for 44 years...I'm just kidding, any Englishman out there ) Oh well, we should finally get some action next ep with Ichika vs Cecilia, can't wait for that! __________________
