Evangelion 1.0 (You're not alone, here we give you some new eye catching recaps)
Evangelion 2.0 (You cannot advance while we keep giving you recaps which honestly we dont mind as long it sells)

The only thing that changed in evangelion 1.0 was the 5th angel concept which i really liked. I really want to see Zeruel again ^^

Hey can anyone tell me if the first footage of Evangelion Death and Rebirth (The appearance of adam and the Little misato rescue by her father) is part of any side material or any directors cut? That was a nice part...

1.0's most significant change is actually not the 5th Angel Ramiel itself.

The most significant obvious change is that before going off to fight Ramiel, Misato gave Shinji a recording of his classmates cheering him on.

In the original anime, this didn't happen and Shinji always hated his job, he thinks that he was never responsible for all this. But in 1.0, with the adding of the classmates cheering him, he finds that he has a responsibility, being one who can pilot an EVA, he has to protect his classmates. This part is important because it can shape Shinji into a stronger character than he was in the original.

There are also lots of other subtle changes which we do not know their meanings yet.

For Death and Rebirth, if I'm not wrong, that part was in the original.

Or maybe I rewatched everything too many times and had forgotten whether it was in the original anime or not. But Adam's appearnace and Misato rescued by his father is an important part of Misato's past.

Also, I think another really important difference is the holding hands of Misato and Shinji.

While Misato did have genuine concern for Shinji early on in the series she never physically expressed it till say ep 18 or so.

As you lose a lot of the subtly and longer development from the series, I approved this simple, yet so very touching and very influential scene which was sorely needed in the series.

Like I mentioned to a friend, the movies are as subtle as a sledgehammer. But, I do approve of this way, as movies are much shorter and making the first impression matters. I would recommend the new movies first, then return to the main series for all the nuances.

*sigh* How did I know they were going to make a completely new remaster with even more changes for the blu ray release? Funi had better get the rights to this version as well because I refuse to buy the DVD for any title when there is a superior blu ray version available.

^ Funi or some other company will definitely grab it for sure, sooner or later. I just hope the Blue-Ray version manages to "remaster" that damn darkness problem at the very least. You can't see anything in some of the scenes, and what's even worse is the fact that most of it are action sequences...

Also nice to know that there's a set date for 2.0 now.

ive only seen the first one here in AUS as generally we are a bit slow getting everything over here but i relly liked the reboot of the series i think its pretty fresh and they have stuck to the orignal concept which i like but made those little changes that i think have made the series better eg shinji no being so spineless and whingy.

cant wait for the second one to be released down here

Apparently, her name is changing from 惣流・アスカ・ラングレー / Sohryu Asuka Langley to 式波・アスカ・ラングレー / Shikinami Asuka Langley. No justification appears to have been given for the change.

I hope this is not true.

I personally do not like the new name. Shikinami sounds really plain to me compared to Sohryu. Shikinami sounds pretty common, too. Then again, I really am clueless as to which names are commonly used in other countries so do not take my comment that seriously.

I am more interesting in learning about Mari, anyway.

Why? Why change Asuka's name? What was wrong with Sohryu? Everyone's been fine with that for over a decade now. Will it have something to do with the new plot? Assuming the story will now diverge into something else from the original series.

If people have seen the pic Littm post on page 42, the previous page, post #833, you should have had some suspicions.

What I thought seeing those pics is that the movie could be something that took place after EoE, probably the world resetted in some way after those events but had some major remnants left from it.

I wonder if this time Shinji will steal that kiss while Asuka is sleeping? Id go for it! I mean with the life expectancy of an Eva pilot, you could die tomorrow...you wouldnt want regrets now.
