Such a sad sad day.

Wish I had the necessary skills to translate Shuffle, alas, I have none of the skills needed. -sigh- I need to go back to school and take some programming courses as well as Japanese.

I just hate that a lot of work might get simply lost and anyone else who took it up would have to start from scratch. That's why places like the B-T translation projects are great... if someone is hit by a meteor, the work can survive.

honestly, i think if they know that something like this could happen, i wish that they plan some effective counter measures. Well we just have to wait or its better to think that it is already lost forever.

aye, I can't say I'm terribly happy with the situation. If they intend on finishing it - fine, say so. If they don't, also say so. Its been "almost done" for, what, 3 years now?

It actually impedes other people from starting because no one likes to re-do work that they know exists. That's why places like Sourceforge are so popular (open source software site).

Starting to think about putting my copies of Shuffle! and TickTack! up on ebay... :P I've played through them in my torturous knowledge of Japanese.

"back ups" weren't the issue.. .its that the guys who *HAVE* the data keep vanishing offline for months or years, leaving the others adrift.

As far as the website goes.... they keep taking it down to save money if nothings happening. There was also a period when their site host apparently had them on a very tight transfer cap and it would go offline frequently as people tried to visit.

Frankly, I'll give it six more months and then call the project essentially dead and stop worrying about it anymore.

Try 3 or so years for some of us.

Not really waiting, I forgot about it after a while, but it's all the same.

yeah.. heh... 7 "whole months"

Sorry, don't mean to poke - but for those of who've been checking periodically since 2005-ish just find that a bit funny.

"They" appear to only work on it in their spare time (since it is a hobby after all) but it does seem they've vanished for good this time...

Took a look at it... it does appear to be the alpha patch of the translation. Thanks to Leiji.

Question: Is the alpha patch worth the effort of purchasing Shuffle, or is it a half-done patch that leaves much of the game untranslated.

Thanks, that saved me from spending money on that game.

Though seriously, if they're not planning to finish the game they could at least release their work so far and let others pick it up.
