The CA part, I think it should be that many construction firms owe the CCB money that the bonds it holds are more or less junk; remember the article about China building tons of stuff which nobody buys or rent?

So there is a debate going on between the have's and have-not's: one side wants the price to fall out of pure necessity of living. Without customers the price will fall; the other side wants the government to do "something" to protect their investment: otherwise it will be a big problem for the economy, blah, blah, blah.... Not dissimilar to the bailing out of American banks. The question is how much it will fall so some sort of balance can be reached. The government officials has a track record of exploiting the have-not's and covering up their own greed and mistakes. On the other hand, the urbanization of China is raging on and there no lack of potential buyers. What is lacking, however, are people who can afford to buy a house. There are many, if you haven't forgot the trend of betting against China that's going on since a couple of month ago. I haven't done any research so I have no idea how much money they have made (not much, I suspect). |

Regarding the American banks, I had a small chat with my mentor about that issue and he gave me a final piece of a puzzle : if BofA is dumping all their Chinese stocks, it means that they are getting their cash back; meaning which they would either reinvest or bunker down on it, making BofA a good investment in the future. Also, Goldman Sachs do hold alot of Chinese stuff, and with BofA making their withdrawal, GS might do the same in the next few months to get cashback, leaving the Chinese economy high and dry. It would be ironic that the biggest douches who crashed the US economy 3 years ago may be the ones saving it too, doesn't it seem?

And in the "Sorry, no one taught us how to behave like grownup" department of North Korea antics:
http://news.yahoo.com/japan-anthem-b...080257515.html I wonder how the message was passed they were supposed to boo. It certainly wasn't spontaneous (cuz ya know.. sometimes the government doesn't want them to boo).

I'd stay out of certain places of Oakland if the Raiders were taking the bagel.
As for that hockey riot, as an African American in the states, let's just say I was........perplexed at the sheer wanton destruction happening in wealthy white Vancouver. Naturally there are exceptions but that was a HELL of an exception. But no I still stand by my original statement. It's not like we don't have crazies here in the states, but in European countries it seems to be a much more potent type of sub-culture. |
