my impression of this episode was that it felt awfully rushed, no explanations, strange EVA esque school moments, and useless characters that were built up remain useless. And of course strange twins walking away after mentioning a new gate being opened.

I would have been okay with ending if it was seen that Hei overloaded something or whatever with returned powers, my mine is in confusion to properly rate this episode yet.

I feel sad for Suou though. :tears:

As mentioned before, the ones who're disappointed are more likely to post, while people who like it normally don't. I liked it though, so I guess I'm a rarity.

Now, we add a few more questions to the ones left over from Season 1:

- Who is the boy in the Gate? I assume it's the result of Izanami and Izanagi meeting, Kagutsuchi the Destroyer, if we follow the obvious mythological references.
- Where is the new Gate?
- Did Hei kill Yin? It's plausible, given how Hei actually said he'd do so in the same episode, plus it seems like a way to release Yin from her 'torment'. Also, I'm not too sure he's in the right mindset to take another Third Option like he did at the end of Season 1.
- What role with Earth 2 play in the future? Probably little, really, as it's mentioned to be an Ark, possibly as a backup just in case everything on the original Earth literally goes to Hell.

Your right, I did forget that scene which makes this ending rather typical now for Dtb. I can only hope for more Hei action if they plan to make another DtB season, I watch it regardless of what I think of how this series ends its seasons.

Rather than a 'new Gate'...from the Japanese, I got the impression that they meant that Hell's gate had opened again.

At about 14 minutes, a grunt reports that "Hell's Gate ga hirakimasu"「ヘルズゲートが開きます」
23 minutes in: "mata Gate ga hiraita yo" 「またゲートが開いたよ」

I'll need to check with someone, but in this case, I think 'mata' means 'again' rather than 'another'.

Besides Oreille and Misaki and/or Hei, no one else seems to see/know about this copy Earth.

I didn't think lowly of the ending. I thought it was particularly decent, and some ends were resolved.

With regard to Hei killing Yin, here's my interpretation of it. It's not the same as others, but it's still pretty logical to me.

The star representing BK-201 is still shining brightly, which means Hei is very much alive. Whether Yin is as well though...

I thought it was fairly straightforward actually, but then again given the Postgrad course I'm taking, comprehension comes easier to me these days. I loved the implication, for example, that the US (or the CIA at least) was behind the Syndicate from Season 1 from the very beginning ("There's no longer any need for the Syndicate to act in secret"), or that Dolls start evolving once inside the radius of the Gate (which was something thought unique to Yin, but as we've seen July and Oreille's twins now have different Spectres that can move independent of electrical lines).

Yin is prob dead. Hei killed her after 11 episodes of saying that he's going to kill her. That flash at 20 min was him getting his powers back and killing her at the same time.

Suou also lives in the same area as Hei's/Li-kun's apartment complex and is using a telescope. The coincidence there is too much. She's prob going to meet Hei again.

Poor Misaki. She got her wish but lost Hei.

Suou got her wish and she lost Shion.

Hei got his wish and he lost Yin.

July got his wish and he lost Suou.

Likely as well, though Haruhi knows what kind of gravitic anomalies its existence will cause on the rest of the solar system. Hilariously, I don't think Shion ever made a moon to go with the other Earth... Or did it take Earth's real moon with it?

@ the above poster. Yeah, I got a ton more questions than that. Its just that DtB pulls shit out of its hole, doesn't explain how its poo is that way or how it's form. And then given for the consumer to digest. (Horrible)

Suou was transported to the new Earth. The memories of all the inhabitants of od Earth gained from the doll network and ME were used to fabricate the new one (season 1 old Earth). Shion made a new Earth where there were 2 parents for Suou.

The Gate had a dark sense of humor...

Suou wanted to find Shion. The Gate allowed her to find him and she lost him in the new Earth. She's an only child there.

July is an evolved doll. He wished to stay with Suou. The Gate granted that wish and transported him to the new Earth with her. However, she's 13yo and he's 10 yo. He lost her due to age differences. Let's face it. It's not cool for a 13 yo female to look at a 10 yo male.

I don't really get it, now there're two worlds? one without contractors and stuff, like in the scenes we saw Suou as schoolgirl and one where america's starting a war to prove their mighty society and where Misaki etc. are "the syndicate"?

and who's that boy/girl who awakened in the coffin and killed the CIA's men?
