So according to the Dengeki player, Route A took 10 hours (though I'm not sure if that means straight from the beginning to the Good Ending, or including Bad Endings). And here is the chart of things avaliable in the demo:

Quote:
Trial Version/ Full Version
Routes: Route A/ All Routes
Endings: All the way until the end of Route A, along with many Bad Endings/ Whole game
Plot Twists: Unrevealed/ Revealed
SSS: Avaliable/ Avaliable
RAM System: Unavaliable/ Avaliable
Graphics: Still in the middle of development/ Fully developed
Sound: Lower quality/ High Quality
Message Skip: Avaliable/ Avaliable
Auto Mode: Avaliable/ Avaliable
Jump: Avalible/ Avaliable
Save and Load: Avaliable/ Avaliable
Quick Save and Quick Load: Avaliable/ Avaliable
Options: Avalible/ Avaliable
Bad Ending Hints: Avaliable/ Avaliable
Map: Unavaliable to be brought up at free will/ Fully functional
TIPS: Unavaliable/ Avaliable
Achievements: Unavaliable/ Avaliable
Album: Unavaliable/ Avaliable
Music: Unavaliable/ Avaliable
Playing Log: Unavaliable/ Avaliable
My thoughts:

I expected there'd be a TIPS system in this game. I have a feeling it'll be more like I/O's TIPS than R11's TIPS. Whereas R11 had the TIPS listed once and then they appeared in the TIPS menu, I/O had the TIPS appear frequently in the text, and like Wikipedia hotlinks, you could click on the word and it'd take you straight to the TIPS page.

10 hours seems like a good length. That's roughly the length of a single R11 route without getting Bad Endings, IIRC. E17's true route also took roughly 10 hours, while a long route in I/O often took about 8 hours, so I think it'll work well. Of course, this doesn't tell us how many routes the game is really going to have (which is at least three at this point).

So I won't be able to try the demo, but to be honest, even if I could, I don't think I'd want to. I'd rather experience the game in it's full form the way Nakazawa and the rest of the team envisions it. I know it's ironic for me to say this considering how I'm releasing a partial patch of the Never7 translation (which is more or less a demo), but that's just how I personally feel.

Another Nakazawa interview is up, this time about the demo. While I've decided to avoid reading and translating interviews for Root Double until the game is released and I've finished it (maybe I'll translate them afterwards), there are still some good pictures from the interview. The first one is of an example of the Senses Sympathy System.

Spoiler for Senses Sympathy System:

The second is the "hint" system we've been told about, for Bad Ending #14 of Route (or rather "Root" A, as you'll see on the screen, apparently for pun. Nakazawa has explained the significance of the "Root" pun in another interview, but I've purposely neglected on reading it). Anyway, here's the screen.

Spoiler for Bad Ending Hint Screen:

The Root B Trailer is now avaliable on Youtube, right here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8u_E...eature=channel

In other news, Nakazawa will be appearing at Tokyo University on May 15th from 12:00-1:00 PM to make a lecture. What I'd kill to be there...

Remember the two silluoetted characters? Both of them have been revealed (though their names and information are still hidden).

http://www.yetigame.jp/w/chara11.html

http://www.yetigame.jp/w/chara12.html

Ai Shimizu's character looks like a younger version of Mutsuki from I/O, IMO.

Momoko Ohara's character... can't get that much off of her, but I can see why she has the voice she does- she does seem rather tomboyish looking.

A survey was conducted over the past few weeks by Dengeki for users who'd played the demo to rank the demo (only consisting of Route A) and post comments on it. I avoided looking at the comments so that I didn't accidentally spoil myself, but the overall average of the scores was 86/100. Over 50% of users ranked it from 80-100, while the rest were lower.

I've played the demo and I concur with the score. Can't wait to continue into Route B. Wonder if the demo save file will work with the full version.

The final six CG scenes have been posted for Route B today. I'll get to translating them in the next few days, but not immediately, since I'm almost done retranslating a route of Never7, and I want to get that done first.

Route B Episode 12: Split Paths

Quote:
◆September 16th, 6:00 Episode/Route B――――

Up the stairs, a small human figure appears.

"Salyu!"

(TN: According to an interview by Nakazawa himself, I had it wrong this whole time: Louise's nickname wasn't "Salou", it was "Salyu"- from SAnnomiya Louise YUi.)

When Natsuhiko screams her name, she looks down towards him.

"What happened to them!? Did you beat them!?"

"... Sorry. I suffered quite an embarrassing defeat."

The instant Salyu says this, water-like drops begin to fall from her.

The thing that's dyeing the floor red is... Salyu's blood.

Route B Episode 14: Girls do not belong anywhere (yes, that's the Engrish title- I think they were going for "Girl who does not belong anywhere")

Quote:
◆September 16th, 8:00 A.M. Episode/Route B

――And then, in a place far away.
In the darkness of an area forgotten by someone――
A lone girl had collapsed.

"...... Ugh..."

The girl slowly gets up.
"..."

The girl surveys her surroundings, muttering in a hollow voice.
But her words are unheard by anyone.――
They dissolve and disappear into the darkness.

Yeah... that's it. Note how there's no month listed, just "15th"... very interesting. If you guys haven't seen the CG yet, I recommend you go and give it a look. It's very intriguing.

Route B Episode 6: Tragedy of Nine Years Ago

Quote:
◆September 10th, 9:00 P.M. Episode/Route B――――

――Yuuri can't leave the house any more due to an accident.
She was caught up in an incident that occured nine years ago.

All that can be remembered is a fire.
Natsuhiko and the others were trapped inside.
The cries of Yuuri.

The resounding alarm, and the flickering red lights.――
Just remembering that causes his body to tremble.

In those nine years since, Natsuhiko has regretted the incident countless times.
(I musn't do something like that ever again...)
It's what caused Natsuhiko's mental trauma.
Sorry if the translation for this one is a bit weird, I don't have any real context to go off of for some of these lines.

Route B Episode 10: Turning Handstand With Spread Legs
Quote:
◆September 11th 10:00 A.M. Episode/Route B――――

The next class is "Physical Education", where Salyu displays even more of her amazing abilities.

"Haa!"
Salyu does a handstand with her legs spread in unison with a shout.
And like that, she begins to cross the balance beam while turning.

"Whoa!!"
Cheers rise from the crowd of teachers and students.
Natsuhiko and Mashiro also can only watch flabbergastedly.

"A-Amazing... She's moving like some kind of fighting game character, isn't she!?"

"Yeah. And yet it's only PE."

Even though the PE teacher had said, "Each of you, use the balance beam and try whatever you like," she just calmly went on ahead and performed that great feat.

She's not just intelligent; it seems that her physical ability exceeds that of a normal person's.
"Mmm, heaven really went all out in bestowing gifts on her, huh? She's got good looks, intelligence, and is very althletic. It's like she's got a big three dragons set in mahjong."

"Mashiro, your example is something an old geezer would use."

"Ah! And before she even came to this school, she could use her BC naturally... Rather than the big three dragons, it's more like she's got the big four winds! Oh man, she's the perfect girl!"

Contrary to Mashiro's overwhelming excitement, Natsuhiko feels a slight sensation of discomfort.
(Why did that girl purposely transfer into our school...?)

Was it to learn about BC?
Or does she have some other goal?

Perhaps because of the impression Natsuhiko got from their meeting, there are many things weighing heavily on his mind.

Route B Episode 11: Breaking Days

Quote:
◆September 13th, 4:00 P.M. Episode/Route B――――

"Well then, what do you say we go around the city and go shopping the day after tomorrow? It'll surely be fun. Aah, I wonder why it can't just hurry up and be the day after tomorrow alre..."

Mashiro stops in mid-sentence,
"... Huh?"
and then, as if she's noticed something, she opens her eyes.

"What's wrong?"
Feeling puzzled, Natsuhiko calls out to her.
But Mashiro doesn't answer him.

On the contrary, she's dead silent while staring in front of herself――
"!"
Her expression stiffens as if it were suddenly frozen over.

She's clearly acting strangely.
Natsuhiko becomes worried, and whispers to her.
"Mashiro... hey..."
"!"

And then, as if she's come to her senses, Mashiro slowly looks towards Natsuhiko.
"N-Natsuhiko..."
"What's wrong? Did something happen?"
"Umm... Uh..."
While Mashiro says this, she quietly surveys the bus interior.

(TN: The Japanese word is just "car interior", but judging from the CG, I'd guess they're in a bus. If I'm wrong, then I apologize.)

(What is it?)
Natsuhiko also tries surveying, but nothing's happened inside the bus.
Everyone's either sitting or standing calmly.
"... Really, what's wrong?"
"..."

Mashiro doesn't answer for a short while, but before long, she smiles and speaks.
"I'm sorry. It's nothing."
"'It's nothing', you say..."
Well, that's the last one. I assume that's all the CG scenes we'll be getting.

One of the reviewers on Dengeki who's been keeping up on this game's development played the whole game and finished it. While I avoided the details of the review, his conclusion was that Root Double is, in his opinion, Nakazawa's greatest work yet, and is the best Visual Novel of this year so far.

Now I'm even more excited... there's only about another week to go!

And now it's been released! Along with the release comes with the announcement that it there will be a novelization of Root Double (released in multiple parts), written by Souki Tsukishima himself. Personally, I think it's good that it's being written by the original author, as some of the other Infinity novelizations have been... less stellar (particularly Ever17's. Remember11's was good because it divided it into two books, one for each route, and was okay, but not stellar). I/O also had a novel, but it was just a side story (though still written by one of the original authors).

Anyway, I should get my copy by next week. It's been my tradition every time I play a Japanese only Infinity game to write a non-spoiler review of each route on the Ever17 GameFAQs forum. I haven't done so here because there were no topics for those games, but what do you all think? Should I post my reviews for Root Double on this forum too?

EDIT: Yes, I am aware that Root Double isn't an Infinity game, but you all know what I mean.

If I'm given the option between reading a gamefaqs page and an animesuki post, I'd choose the animesuki post.

Oh man. The Limited Edition has already sold out on Playasia. I've pre-ordered the regular edition (the limited edition was too pricey for me), but I wonder if that version will sell out fast too.
