Eternal Fighter Zero

I didn't see any threads about this... so i figured id start.

Does anyone here play this? or have played?

i really like playing this game from time to time, especially since it has characters from kanon . Besides all the fanservice going on here i think the fighting is pretty nice, and it makes for some good entertainment.

I've played it also. It's a surprisingly fun game. Surprisingly it is even good as a fighting game.

Incidently, while I recognize most of the characters from Kanon, where are the other characters from?

Also, I've seen that there is an Air addon. Has anyone played that?

Yes, if I remember correctly...

First expansion is "Blue Sky Edition"
Released on Comike62 (?), characters from AIR were added.

Second expansion is the "Bad Moon Edition"
Released on Comike65, Ikumi added, character rebalancing, etc.

Final expansion is the "Memorial Edition". Basically the final version of the game which includes both expansions, higher sampled BGM.

I played Bad Moon Edition. It's fun.
Kanna is just impossible to beat in Hard mode. ;___;

Akiko's Jam special is wicked. :x

AFAIK, there was a window mode patch released. But I heard it drops FPS to horrible levels (20-30).

The game mixes alot of things from the Guilty Gear series and some elements from Street Fighter 3. The game is surprisingly well balanced, with the worst matchup at 7-3 and only a few of those (as of BME 3.10).

Sleepy Nayuki with 9 jams is a beast in that game. When she gets you to corner and 9 jams, I think the only way to escape is with a reinforced shoryuken-type move. x.x She's got mad pressure and mixup.

I have the game sleeping in my PC since like... 2002.

I had played it intensively, sometimes stopped it (mostly because of Melty Blood) and played it again.

I have played a lot of doujin fighting games but nothing can beat the solid game system of Eternal Fighter Zero.

Unlike Melty Blood, it doesn't turn into a stupid jab spam fest, doing that in Eternal Fighter Zero will likely get you killed.

(watching high level tournament matches of Melty Blood got me disgusted, nearly killing the love I have for this game)

Every characters in EFZ does feel unique, I think of Mai and her Stand, Kano and her magic, Mio and her stance change.

This game is an overlooked, deserving more exposure.

I used to be able to do her ground loop consistently (a,b,c air dash b, repeat). I'll admit that what I know of Nayuki sleep is sorely lacking, but between staggering hits and low-instant high mixups and throws, I've managed to snag quite alot of wins with her. Start of the fight is usually zone keepaway tick throws while trying to build jams. When you do get 9, then you can start rushing them down. I prefer using her air dashes to confuse people, and in some cases cross up to.

Awake Nayuki probably has the most irritating air throw, almost as irritating as Geese's in CvS. Technically, it's just an air throw, but aesthetically you suddenly go flying downwards. I also play some awake Nayuki, but I can't do her corner combos all that well. Also, I haven't practiced her "snow-buros" combos as well. =/

First is A.Nayuki's corner combo, followed by S.Nayuki's combos.

There is no English translation, and I believe there is no fan translation either.

However, the only Japanese in the game are the win quotes--if there are any at all. I forgot =P

The latest and most likely final patch of the game renames it to Eternal Figher Zero -Memorial-.

Am I the only one that gets chills every time I see Ayu's "SDM"? Maybe just because I'm a rabid Ayu lover.

Just saw this in a shop that sells doujinshi today, I must say I'm pretty impressed. This game has aged well through time.

Now I know why Shiori always carries that checkered manteau with her, piss her off and it'll become a rotating Razor Manteau of Death.

It's a popular game amongst 2D fighter enthusiasts, especially ones that adore Kanon/AIR/One.

You should check out some high level match replays. They're quite interesting. Every character has a loop combo (AKA infinite) which the developers apparently built in (unlike other games, where infinites are considered game-breaking). It's very interesting regardless though. Mayu is a beast :O

Oh man, I really enjoyed this game. My friends have a tendency to use Kanna when fighting against me, which makes it all the more interesting.
