That wouldn't be particularly surprising. From my admittedly limited knowledge of Accel World, there's nothing that would actually contradict it being the future of SAO's world. Pretty much all the ground work for Accel World's tech, is in SAO.

You only really run into problems when you start trying to claim that specific characters in Accel World are connected to specific charaters in SAO.

Actually the reason that I was shocked at that particular scene was that:

I did not remember the novel mentioned the NERvGear's name but just "helmet-type full dive machine" instead. The anime mentioning of NERvGear seemed to suggest a high certainty of the connection between AW and SAO.

From what I've heard the author has always been cagey if the two shows are related, hence why it's a bit startling to see it confirmed(?) I've also thought that the progression of technology from NerveGear to NeuroLinker was a bit too fast (since, if you do the math, they went from the first VR machine to one you can wear on your neck that had gained mainstream usage in under 10 years) but if they're confirmed to be in the same world after all then I guess it doesn't really matter.

Yeah I was a bit shocked when they actually showed that scene and laid the whole tech aspect of the SAO (Nerve Gear) -> AW (Neuro Linker) bare for the fans to see. But otherwise, I'd just wait and see if the author tries to make a canon connection between the two character wise.

Still I am surprised that they incorporated the Brain Implant Chip that Kirito was going to research in California into the whole Accel World universe and plot.

Great episodes though, so many shout outs.

Regarding BIC, I recall that LN readers were talking about it. It occurred during the GGO arc.

Unfortunately the author is really not helping. He made a vague answer regarding the relation between his two works that is open for speculation. However, they are related in terms of technological advancements from NERV-Gear to Neurolinker.

The biggest similarity is the touchscreen cooking. In Accel World, it becomes semi-automatic reality. Except they still have to do some manual work, such as changing.

Brain Implant Chip was mentioned in volume 9 of SAO. It's the research that Kirito wants to study in America.
For AW, it's mentioned the same way as the anime.

AW IS the FUTURE of SAO! I'm dead serious. There are MAAANY theories that proves it. First of all, same universe but different timeline. Second, they've put TOO MANY SPOILERS IN ACCEL WORLD!!! Literally, black lotus(Princess snow black)?!! Spoils the whole thing there if you know what I mean. Third, same author.. DURH!! Since nothing is reveal about black lotus' parents we are pretty what's going to happend. If you still don't get it, then you're VERY dumb. nice to see that their is a thread for this, im not a light novel reader but i love spoilers and here is my speculation by watching both anime so far, i started believing that AW and SAO are in the same universe and timeline due to episode 22 of AW stating that the Nerve Gear from SAO is an old technology of their time so this is what i speculated so far



anyone see the resemblance or family connection? kirito and asuna are the parents of kuroyukihime?
just by googling around i found out im not the only one who think first about this too

Accel World (AW) timeline starts at 2047
Sword Art Online (SAO) timeline starts at 2022
the year gap is 25
kirito is 16 in SAO
asuna is 17 in SAO
kuroyukihime is 14 in AW
so according to those numbers kuroyukihime was born on year 2033
and asuna at that year 2033 is 28 years old

kuroyukihime's avatar is full of swords and is fast like asuna and kirito are very good at
kuroyukihime uses vopral strike on episode 23 of AW and i heard in SAO that ability is use too
kuroyukihime behaves like a boss and smart just like kirito and asuna too
kuroyukihime's hair color and eye color resembles the mixture of kirito and asuna too
SAO and AW have same author and both story have same concept of virtual reality game
and kuroyukihime's real name is still a mystery so maybe this will be a big revelation later?

and another one i can add
what if Kirito and Asuna did not end up having kids together? they split up for some reason
i mean is it possible that Kirito's child is Kuroyukihime while Asuna's child is Haruyuki?
Kuroyukihime as child of Kirito has already been speculated
but what about Haruyuki? he has same hair color as Asuna?
or that does mean that Haru-YUKI and kuro-YUKI-hime are actually are both siblings of Kirito and Asuna?
any expert light novel readers here that can deny or strengthen my speculation?

1. Her parents never visited her during her hospital stay. Do you think those two would be that cold.

2. Revealed in Vol. 12, her parents exiled her out of the house after an "incident"
Again, look at reason 1.

3. Considering the nature of AW avatars, I doubt the SAO couple would cause KYH trauma. Unless, they died or went missing.

4. It has been revealed that KYH learned her sword moves from Graphite Edge, NN's most powerful Element. He has twin swords and is blackish in color. This leads to the speculation that he is the real child of the SAO and not KYH.

This is assuming that both works are the same universe. I am more in the camp of homage.

No, he won't yet. It is still very far away. Maybe third season. If you want a connection to the SAO couple, Graphite Edge is best bet.

i dont know because another clue that i recently known Kuroyukihime has a older sister
is called the level 9 White King (dual avatar is called White Cosmos look it up on wikipedia) and this White King sister is one year older than Kuroyukihime... so that means Black King is like Kirito(Black) and the White King is Asuna(White)...
also Asuna(White) is also one year older than Kirito(Black)
LOL the trivial evidences keep piling up that increases more the chances of this theory being true

so chances are this Graphite Edge may have taught Kuroyukihime the sword skills and that Kuroyukihime through that training instinctively reproduce the skills of his theorize father Kirito

i get your point but the thing is do we really know that Kirito and Asuna for example raise BL and WC? they maybe are raise by some other people pretending to be their parents and gave them a hard time and abuse them to give them trauma or change their good behavior to what you describe WC

or am i wrong that the parents of BL and WC have already been expose on the Light Novels?
