It certainly didn't help. She didn't directly see her dad get munched or toasted. She hears voices above the well then gets clonked in the head. Once out, she sees someone she thinks is her father before passing out again. In the vehicle during the dragon fight, she isn't aware that her dad is dead. Just not there with her. Sees other vehicles so logical to assume he might be in one of them or with other refugees. Not until they get done with the fight does it start to register that her dad isn't there. Still thinks he may be alive from the time of the bucket hit mistake. So is waiting. As time goes on and with her dad's absence her mental state starts going downhill. Fear and PTSD doesn't necessarily have to hit all at once in one big clump. It can build up in little doses too and then tomahawk you when you least expect it.

Now that I think about the 2 times the medic talked to Itami about Tuka, it does feel like they didn't tell her...

Never underestimate PTSD it will take years to cure and even then it might resurface decades later. One time I heard veterans cried during the showing of pearl harbor and some became silent when they saw someone playing call of duty series.

Remember when Saving Private Ryan came out and veterans watched it? Many of them broke down in the opening scenes of Omaha Beach.

A lot of veterans actualy do things like civil war or revolutionary war re enactments which seems really surprising at face value but makes a certain degree of sense. It allows them to replay things with control over the situation.

If dragons are 7 deadly sins , smaug would be greed while that dragon is gluttony. Wondering though why not all elves carry bag of very lethal poison so if they are eaten the dragon would be poisoned.

If you've been in actual caves before, particularly lava caves, sound doesn't echo as much as you'd think. It's surprisingly muted after a couple hundred feet. Add in background noise from 10 other people moving around because 'they have a look out' to warn them and it really isn't surprising they got caught. Rory saw the dragon coming, but trusted the comm gear without having an understanding of its limitations.

Itami should have started bugging out or sent a runner the moment he realized comm was down due to the blocked reception. He knows Rory has a thing about going underground and should have had a relay person just in case. In short, he screwed up. And it's going to cost them. Badly.
