(CR) Saint Seiya Omega

Watched the first episode and I'm very pleased with what I see here. I've grown with Saint Seiya, so it's no wonder how much I like it. However, after rewatching the 12 houses arc recently, I gotta say they did a damn fine job in the first episode at improving what might have been the weakest point of SS -- the fights. A lot of time some seventh sense thing would kick in and the battles would be decided in one strike, so things definitely weren't very flashy or elaborate. Of course, being an 80s show those kinds of things were to be expected, but it's great to see how the action was top-notch here.

As far as the story goes, the fitst episode was rather simple, but it felt very Saint Seiya-ish at the same time, so no complaints there. Kouga might turn out into a very cool character, but right now it's nice seeing some attitude with the new Pegasus Saint. Seiya was always sorta TOO SERIOUS, so I think this more "rebel" approach should work fine!

Other than that, I've got to give my praise to the composer, as well. The soundtrack overall is fantastic, but I simply went crazy when the OP arrange started playing over Kouga's "henshin", if you can call it that. Amazing, really. That whole part was probably my favourite part of the episode and this rendition plays a huge part on it.



Anyway, great stuff, can't wait for ep2.

Seiya was not the Sagittarius gold saint. He was the Pegasus gold saint. IIRC, all the gold saints and their cloths were destroyed during the Hades arc. (herp derp wailing wall herp derp derp)

Perhaps, with all the gold cloths destroyed during the Hades arc, someone needed to fill the spot.

Seiya saved Athena from Hades years ago, but he may have lost his life in the process.

Athena has the Pegasus cloth which she gave to Kouga. When worn by Kouga it is seems like a Bronze cloth.

No one intends to tell Kouga about Seiya or Athena and his relation to them, only, that he has to become a Saint.
He learns about the later when Hades attacks for the 2nd time.

By the time of Hades's 2nd attack, he says that their are no more gold saints left to protect Athena. This implies that Seiya was the only gold saint of the new era. And with Shaina being the only one to protect them, I'm thinking that there just aren't many Saints left, period.

Seiya's profile in the official site of SS Omega says that he is the Sagittarius saint now.
Oh and by the way it's not Hades, the enemy is Mars.

He saved Athena and baby kouga from Mars and it is unknown what happened to him after that battle.

About the gold saints or saints in general, we don't know if there are more gold saints (for example Shiryu or Hyoga), I think that what Mars meant was that there were no Gold saints to save her in the island.
At least we know that the sanctuary is still there and that they keep training saints, proof of that is that Souma, Yuna and the others are apparently already saints before Kouga became one, and there is a "saint school" called Palaestra (I think) with more secondary saints, here is a scan:


It's too early to know how many saits there are or if there are new gold saints or not.

I think he meant Seiya wasn't originally a Gold Saint, although in this episode, it's made pretty clear that by the time Mars attacked Athena, he was the Sagittarius Saint. Mars even compliments him with "as expected from a Gold Saint.."

Regarding the scan, it's interesting how they're willing to bring back even minor characters like Geki and Ichi. I'm thinking that, along the way, we'll see everyone who survived the Hades arc.

That was...surprisingly mediocre. I wasn't expecting anything good since it seemed to retain all the basic flaws of the original, but I think it sank to a new low. Despite Umakoshi, the fights weren't good at all. While the exposition was needed, the episode felt it was dragging quite a bit. And I can't believe they managed to do a worse main character than Seiya.

Well I don't think this is considered a spoiler since it's on the official page of the series so, yes Seiya is the new Sagittarius saint.

Seiya, no longer a Bronze Saint, is regarded as a legendary Gold Saint in the millieu of Omega. Having defended Athena in the past from powerful enemies, Seiya continues his mission as the Sagittarius Gold Saint

Because we know he survived, if not, how was he fighting Mars with the Sagittarius cloth?

And about the destroyed clothes, it's always posibble that kiki (Mu's apprentice) created new ones and/or repaired the other ones, I mean with the whole cloth-stones thing it seems he or someone else modernized all the saint clothes.

Yeah, I'm surprised Geki and Ichi will be back, I wonder if they are still bronze saints.

Having never watched anything Saint Seiya, I enjoyed this immensely.
Kouga does come off like a wimp, but hey, nothing wrong with that if they're going to develop him into something.

Eagerly waiting to watch this. Although I'm pretty much new to this franchise, Umakoshi immediately catches my attention and Precure has raised my awareness of Toei in general. I've got high expectations for this to be one of the highlights of the season.

I watched the first episode again, with french sub (thanks archange from Saintseiyapedia ).

And it was really cool, especially the soundtrack which is good in my opinion.

The animation is good, but the problem is that it's a bit poor graphically.

and then when I watch it.. I was like... "FKDLGJKGFGAWESOME!!!" from Seiya's battle, OP(!!!), until Koga henshin-Pegasus Ryuseiken with Pegasus Fantasy as BGM~~~

There's really various ways to look at it. Besides, sometimes we need to chalk it down to 'just because.'

Personally, I think it's more of a situation where Kouga's inner senses remember Seiya's Suiseiken as a baby. The image of Seiya is obviously vividly embedded within him, even if he doesn't consciously recall it.

That, or Seiya has left behind something within his Pegasus Cloth/Gem that has helped Kouga able to execute the Suiseiken.
