Are there any screens or anything of the first episode anywhere yet?

It hasn't even started yet! All that's out is the trailer.

I'm sticking with this no matter what comes of it, but I have a comment on the OP.

...did they have to have everyone standing still like that? If I wanted to go through the Negima wax museum, I'd do that on my own time. Even "1000% Sparking!" had more movement from the girls.

I've said my piece over on the Random Curiosity blog (see Vibeke's link).

I'd say all author Ken was looking for was the opportunity to hang out on the set with 30 pretty girls in school uniforms and cosplay bits. He probably got to eat lunch with them. The silly thing is that he's married to a quite striking lovely little thing. He seriously is the George Lucas of manga/anime .... his team creates some interesting things and then he proceeds to demonstrate that he has NO idea how to treat them.

I'll wait til I see the ep because the stills might just indicate Dr. Who budget funny cheap.... but:
1) an animated Kamo sewn into his(her) coat .... frankly, a Muppet would have been a better choice. I find myself wishing for Motsu....
2) apparently the acting is quite flaky (based on comments)
3) Its really hard to get past the "Negi played by a girl" problem which makes many scenes "odd" unless Negi-yuri was your goal anyway.
4) since the sfx is cheezy maximum...... it'll have to fly on story and acting --- oops.

... Horror... I have seen the horror of live action.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy live action stuff like PGSM but... I can't tell who is who in the class of girls, sure I can tell them apart but that doesn't me I know which character is which.

In other news, I think Takahata sensei (or at least the actor) is really really hot...

Yeah I wonder about subs...

I'm still going to try and watch this, if anything it'll just be so I can see how bad it can really be.

For just a brief instant, I thought about looking at the raw for grins .... no grin is worth 487MB of wasted bandwidth. Maybe someone will sub it at a 95MB encode

I didn't think it was that bad really, special effects weren't too bad, seen worse and the acting didn't really bother me all that much.
OP is stupid though, I would have preferred to see them moving but songs are decent i think, OP and ED. It's still early days for it, a lot of the characters haven't been introduced yet so I'm going to keep watching ^_^

I have to differ. In my point of view Negima!? is a way better anime series than 1st Negima anime. You may accuse Negima!? not being a very faithful adaptation, but you cannot say itself is extremely poor.

Negima Manga - Very good
1st Negima anime - somewhat good
Negima Neo - bland
Negima!? - extremly poor
Negima Live Action - DUCK! TRAIN WRECK EMINENT!

Sorry but Negima!? ratings disagree with you. It epic failed in the end. Started good but ratings dropped all through out it showing. I say again it Epic failed by the time it ended.

Anyway I went ahead and watched this just for the hell of it. I can actually hear my brain break.... Worst pieces of... well you know... ever made.

I was surprised that the Shaft "reinterp" of Negima!? was licensed for R1 after the japanese ratings plummeted so badly by the end. Those aren't subjective but more indicators of risk.

It wasn't helped by the fansubs either by being left in limbo by sub groups (who also lost hope it seems).

For people who enjoyed it (and it did have some lovely moments), fabulous ... but then I thought the first season of Negima as a trainwreck of its own as well (animation issues, tortured ending plot) with just a few lovely moments (the Evangeline arc, Sayo's anime-only ep 19, some of the battle sequences). Some fans loved that as well. I'll just call "can I please have the Negima I'm looking for?" on my take.

Negima!? was my clue, however, that director Shinbo needs to take a sabbatical. Even his Hidamari Sketch -- arty and fun as that was, showed serious problems by the time ep 10 "slideshowed" around.

115MB subs are out, 5 minutes in and I already used up an entire box of tissues wiping blood off my hemorrhaging eyes and ears.

I also find it funny that the retired porn star who plays Shizuna Minamoto is doing a better acting then Negi.

Apparently, you should ask Hypernova via PM --- he says there are subs out but when I look in the "usual places" I'm not spotted it.

115MB and box of blotting tissues and brain bleach might be worth an initial watch

I should probably add that I'm watching chinese subs from NGMFans . The group has stated that they are doing it out of curiosity and might not continue.
