Too late I would say.
That consistent Presidential personailty of hers cost her the guy she liked. If she relaxed a bit and let him see other sides to her. If she relaxed and let herself have OTHER aspects... she would have been #1 at the finish line. Tsubasa's problem is she was passive, assuming she had him cornered and no one else would be interested in him nor would he show interest in anyone else. Hanekawa was surprised (episode 1) that Koyomi showed interest in Hitagi when he asked what kind of person she was. Right then and there she should have realised that she needed to make a move as quickly as possible. Meanwhile Hitagi begins to put desire into motion toward Koyomi even before she confirmed that he was not dating Hanekawa. What woman presents herself naked to a man she just met if she was not after something ? Dai Service my ass... Hitagi played hardball and ruthlessly. When Hitagi realised that she could not inspire koyomi to confess to her, she took matters into her own hands and confessed herself. Thus... being active instead of passive. Hanekawa still waiting for him to confess... knowing her personality... would never confess. Now the thing to rememebr is that Koyomi admitted to Hitagi that he wasn't confident in himself and didn't think he deserved to be with her (episode 5 at the fence) These same ideas he carried for Hanekawa. The difference is that Hitagi managed to dispell that notion from his head. She decided to convince him by giving him an alternate way to look at things... that he got himself trapped by a crazy virgin girl with a wicked mouth etc, etc. Hanekawa could have done the same thing... can't blame her really... she only knows what she knows. |

I wish they had cut them out all together. They say they do it to advertise but they're just being smart asses.
They didn't even have the best translation. They actually skew some translations. They used to be a lot better in all honesty.

I agree with with most of Zetsubo's points, but need to add something.
Before Hitagi's love confession, Tsubasa and Koyomi only knew each other personally for just about 2 months. I mean, Tsubasa is kinda old fashioned. And the fact that Tsubasa was the first and only friend that Koyomi ever had in his first two years of high school life, also help her to feel secure. |

She also benefited from the comfort of their friendship without letting him know what he was doing for her. That she saw him as very important to her... a dear friend. A person who soothes her mind, body and spirit. It was a simple as that. In life you can take things slowly but not too slowly. Hanekawa knows Koyomi for 2 months, and Hitagi knows him for a significantly shorter time than that, yet... Hitagi nabs him right from under her nose. The reason is simple... Hitagi is not a traditional girl... recognises that Hanekawa was taking her time and is a threat... So Hitagi decides to act fast. No way was she going to loose the only guy that showed her so much care and kindness to a woman that has been lax. As far as Hitagi sees it, Hanekawa ought to have bedded Koyomi long ago... (ergo the virgin discussion in her home) ... When he said he wasn't dating Hanekawa (let alone sleeping with her) that was like blood in the water for Hitagi feeding frenzy. Bear in mind that Hitagi has sexual hangups and trauma (from the religious leader's pedophilic actions) but she works to overcome those fears... of people and men... and won out. Her hurdles was greater than Tsubasa's in that arena. But Tsubasa is too concerend about propriety and rules... and appearances... despite wandering the streets at night not wanting to go home. She should have been at Koyomis home !!! Can't blame her really... she doesn't know everything, only what she knows. |

But you definitely hit all the points and really made it clear. That scene was great. Pedaling away with that blush on his face while saying the line. Great that in reality after the question he would have stood in silence, gotten onto his bike, and start racing away before saying his reply .

Lots of good points, especially from Zetsubo. But it's also true that Senjougahara could easily have gone down in flames by being too forward. I mean, Araragi had his doubts for a long time (counted by episodes). Even when she confessed, I wasn't sure what he would say. I'm not a hundred percent sure even he knew. In some ways, he is similar to Hanekawa, a bit repressed (despite having been a vampire, lol). But Senjougahara managed to change that, by the force of her incredible personality.
I get why some people found this episode a bit down, but there were things there that really hit me. The exchange about what Araragi might say to Senjougahara, and his departing "yeah," turned that scene into something almost as intimate as their tryst under the stars. And Araragi's amazing molestation of Mayoi, and her responding big bite, made that brief encounter pretty memorable. Then we got the long build-up for Hanekawa, churning away building up subterranean psychological pressure. Then the encounter with Oshino, with the unusually crabby sniping between Araragi and Oshino also building up pressure. And then Oshino's stunning first move and the appearance of black Hanekawa.

Yeah, cant agree more from Zetsubo's post...
To make it worse, to whom Araragi discuss about his frustation bout his relationship and his encounters with oddities. To Hanekawa. No wonder Hanekawa is having a headache and stress... Hanekawa steals Araragi's virgin? Prepared to be stapled to death... |
