As an extension off of what papermario13689 wrote...
It's nice to see a K-On/Hyouka collaborative effort starring Eru Chitanda in the lead role, joined by her best friends Ritsu and Yui. Also nice to see Ritsu once again play the the genki girl harboring secret yuri feelings for her best friend.

Man, that first pixiv "fan-art" was so much better than these official K-on/Kokoro Connect look-alikes (I'm aware it's the same artist). Bah. Also those voices from the CM... are quite irritating. I was hoping for more of a "Ghibli-style" family series which I got from that pixiv pic, but alas looks like Kyoani is doing what they have been doing that are the most commercially successful to them - the exaggerated moe-moe gag-centric, "cute humour spam" style apparent since Lucky Star and which continued onto from K-on, Nichijou and the currently airing Chuunibyou. Ah well, was too good to be true I guess .
But with every Kyoani-production and hyped project, I'll wait till a proper PV and the first 2-3 episodes till the ultimatum but will be making sure my expectations are kept relatively low. Who knows, might be a good watch! Was initially expecting that (but Ghibli instead of Adachi in my case), but looks like I'll have to degrade to expecting just classic Kyoani moe moe now. PA Works is PA Works, Adachi is Adachi and Kyoani is Kyoani . I'm guessing Hyouka was an exception to the rule for Kyoani and not the norm. |

But this is Kyoani we are talking about who are unfortunately quite predictable a majority of the time. I had the same expectations before I watched Hyouka and then I was followed up by the end with a significant pleasant surprise. Better to have low expectations and then have them beaten than to have high ones and have them shattered . The latter has happened already three times this year with certain series...

A bird that talks. That's the fantasy element I was hoping for
I'm now much more hyped for this, seeing these new developments. Yamada has said she really likes fantasy, and getting to put a bit of that into a show that seems to be of the kind that Kyoani can do best is good for her and the studio. Kyoani hasn't done anything having to do with supernatural things since Clannad, and even there it was pretty irrelevant all the way through. I'm confident this will be a good series, and already anticipating Jan 9. |

It appears that Tomoko Kataoka is in a group called Instant Cytron.
And I gotta say I really like the feel of their songs. [mod edit: Do not link to illegal music streams] It really does feel relaxing if it's going to be in the lines of this. I'm looking forward to the music then.

Are those designs their signature move now?
I guess it's more cost effective to have these designs and then save it for fluid animation so we can all pretend it looks aesthetically pleasing. That being said, outside of Haruhi, I've noticed it's quite hard to take nice individual screenshots of their anime as it simply doesn't look good out of motion.
