Do you know what I think I have seen? Someone like Hikaru from Magic Knight Rayearth, and some guy in armor posing with crossed arms and dramatic ninja scarf.

You must be jocking.

I see a girl with maki maki hair, holding a glowing dimond shaped doodad in her right arm and some possible male character (based on the outfit) in the background. It may very well be some kind of summon judging by the scene. That being said, the character Mai is so generic it would be hard to identify in a clear picture much less in this blurry blob.

Seriously how Mai is generic, she's a special character and good looking. You must be watching too much cliches son!

The art design. It's very hard to distinguish from other characters who practically look the same...

It's the school uniform that's all, I kinda looks like Fuuka Academy uniform. Sunrise can't reuse every original shows, that just plain stupid.

I'm not talking about the picture. I'm talking about the overall design of the character Mai.

Anyway, this getting confusing so I'll just leave it at that.

Let's not assume it's related to the Mai-series at all, shall we?

Well, my interest is piqued. I'll add this to my "anime to watch out for" list.

Now this is interesting. The designs are good in my tastes.

A new Sunrise Project! Definitely what this rather stale, old industry needs. I am certainly looking forward to a lot of the other anime that are coming out this year, but they do seem to lack that "oomph" that we are so used to getting from past Sunrise/Gainax/Bones productions. Bones in particular seems to have caught a rather nasty case of "Soulless Anime Directing Syndrome", but maybe it's just me...

Anyway, I digress. I do agree that Sunrise is never always on the ball. They can screw up big time, but if there is anything they are good at, it's giving us something to talk about. Water cooler moments are Sunrise's signatures. Even if Sacred Seven won't end up being the most original, I hope it will at least be worth having long, tired debates about!

As for the picture...

One of my friends will be definitely be crying "manly tears of joy" if he hears that the Gao Gai Gar saga is getting some sort of continuation or re-invention.

No, I'm definitely seeing it too sadly. Star Driver which I really want to like is starting to give me that feeling (Hero Man and Gosick don't help either) in it's last quarter where I realize I've pretty much just watched utter chaos unfolding for 18 episodes and that nothing, be it the plot or the relationship between the huge cast of characters is really coming together at all. I barely know anything about those characters because the majority of the anime seems to have been spent on working the wacky hijinks and school anime cliches with maybe 5 minutes of genuine development for the characters at select moments. Even the people that were spending the early episodes discussing where they think the show is going seem to be holding their breath in the thread now because it hasn't really gone anywhere.

The last show by Bones I really remember getting into was Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 which a lot of people thought was some sort of failure, but where I found myself genuinely invested in what happened to the characters and how the disaster would change them. Don't really get any of that from Star Driver because again not much is happening even as the show makes like something just happened a couple episodes ago and for a show that's twice as long it's kind of inexcusable. I was enjoying the main trio about 10 episodes ago mind you but not much has happened with them since either.

Anyway hopefully this ends up being interesting and has plot points and character points going on each episode. Sunrise anime rarely fails to get me to immediately want to watch the next episode after finishing one and to immediately want to keep watching an episode after I start. They're really good at getting me engaged and keeping me engaged throughout their shows, which is a rarity for anime nowadays.
