Kick ass females

I know that I already have huge list to watch but I want to add a bit more so I would have more to choose from.

What I'm looking for this time is a show with strong female characters (preferably side characters who appear a lot, but don't mind leads) who actually do something instead of only having cool attitude and some fighting abilities... don't mind tsundare. Also don't mind double personalities as long as cool personality appears more often.

It can be action and romance but if it is romance then make sure that girl doesn't blush all the time.

Here are some examples:
Spoiler for examples:

Have more but I'll stop there.

Ah, and one more thing... make sure that their boobs don't cover half of screen all the time... yes High School of the Dead, I'm looking at you!

You're Under Arrest!- an older buddy comedy series with two female leads (Tsujimoto Natsumi and Kobayakawa Miyuki) who are probably the most badass traffic cops ever, they are pretty much a two women SWAT team. The latter has a tendency to angst more openly. However, both are undeniably competent especially when together.

Read or Die- Heroine Yomiko Readman does have a tendency to blush and is rather goofy, but she is definitely competent as a secret agent, not to mention her goofiness is a big part of her charm. I personally feel she has one of the coolest powers in anime/manga, which is put to good use during fight scenes: she can essentially turn paper into anything; the only limit being her imagination and considering she reads a lot of books she has a very active imagination. Her partner Nancy is on the bouncy side, but the bounciness is only limited to her and she is quite badass herself.

R.O.D TV- sequel to Read or Die focusing on a different set of protagonists, the Paper Sisters: Anita, Michelle, and Maggie. It's less action driven than its predecessor, but its heroines work together well and pull off some impressive stunts.

Shikabane Hime:

I'm currently watching it, and I really like it. Involves several females which have guns or swords who fight undead beasts. Fights scenes are generally well-drawn, with no cut-corners and such. The animation quality picks up towards the end of the second season, furthering its awesomeness. The main character is a fairly helpless boy, who later starts getting his act together.

But nearly 99% of the time, its badass females doing the work.

Black Lagoon all the way. Revy is a great character, definitely deeper than just a cool attitude. She's definitely not the only kickass female in the show either.

Gunslinger Girl is great too. The main characters are little girls, but they're also cyborg assassins. The show does a great job of developing them and their friendships with each other and the interactions between them and their supervisors/mentors.

Off your to watch list ; Seirei no Moribito, Shakugan no Shana, or Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha though female characters of all three series are pretty much the leads.

Also for one that's Action/romance maybe Ookami-san?

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's are pretty much the embodiment of what you're looking for. But keep in mind the first season is standard magical girl fare for four episodes, but after that the awesomeness keeps climbing. And if you reach A's it takes the kickassery of the first season and blows it to epic proportions.

Just went through your plan to watch list:

Black lagoon : As said, Revy is a great action girl with some great developement.

Cowboy Bebop : It has Faye Valentine who appears at episode 3 , one of my favorite kickass female characters, with a deep tearjerking backround story. (and she's my strongest recomendation)

Cross Game : It has Tsukishima Aoba .She's a girl but one of the best baseball players in her school,I know she's won over the heart of many viewers

Dennou Coil : Isako is a preteen elite computer hacker, starts out as a bit of an antagonist to the main character but develops throughout the story

Katanagatari : Can't fully speak about it because I havn't finished it yet but the lead girl seems pretty kickass so far

Noir: By the director of Phantom.Mireille,Chloé,Kiriko, take your pick!

Put Black Lagoon, Serei no Moribito and Katanagatari higher on your priority list.

Not action girls, but I also recommend The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Cross Game and Paprika.

Also like to suggest Yoko Rittona of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan, but your last sentence kinda put me off, but seriously, Yoko is full of win ^^

Also, why do peoples suggesting Katanagatari? Cheeriochan is not a kickass female, an excellent female lead she is, but kick ass type mofo on par with Revy and Major? dont think so much. She's not even comparable to Lucy of FT.

Yasuri Nanami.

Also the series has a respectable number of female antagonists.

Watched that, completly not my style of anime. Way too many randrom and unlogical things are happening, and biggest part of cast were idiots

So yeh didn't like it much, but Yoko was a nice character don't have much complaints towards her specificly

Thanks everyone for the list! Keep them coming!
I don't mind female as a villian, I actually welcome it
And it is fine if it is not action but sport orientated. I love sport

Kara no Kyoukai - I loved first six movies, the seventh one was meh, I didn't even finish watching it.
Ryoko's Case Files - Ryoko is a really great character, and is far far away from your typical female lead.
Burst Angel - Jo and Sei are the ones you may want to keep your eyes on.
