As a fellow techie... what do you think is on the level of gen 1 that has enough power to make the whole world fear mutual annihilation?

what technology available to 1st generation IS has the capability to bring about the destruction of the world? So much so that multiple countries actually agreed to sign a treaty to keep the IS from being misused.

Honestly, don't know.

I was in agreement in MeisterBabylon that by any accounts, White Knight was far stronger spec wise than any other I.S. following it (with the exception of completed Gen-4 units and gamebreaker unit such as Silver Gospel), and having badass pilot certainly helped.

I assume the treaty itself is written with White Knight as Basis, it certainly can't destroy cities instantly like nukes do, but if used tactically or strategically, can pretty much ruin any country in a very short timespan (Destroying government and industrial building, military supply & bases etc).

I was aware that white knight far outstripped any of the IS's that would be developed at that time. Which is why the twist to the White Knight Wars is so much more deliciously cruel.

I was wondering if there was anything these IS's had that could help lay waste to entire cities in moments... Then there's also the "shifts" involved

They can actually steamroll any city if they want, they just need time.

Honestly, their total firepower, for all intent and purposes are less than even smaller warship in the Navy. Some can dish better, but still far cry from nuke-level destruction.

Their greatest asset in canon is always small size and mobility, and their highly durable energy barrier, making them godlike against modern war-tools and combat doctrine (but not invincible). Following that is bottomless ammo (okay, they need to reload but basically has infinite reserve) and extreme power output.

All in all, you might want something like fusion warhead or large particle cannon, but no such weapons are mentioned in canon.

So probably hacking into one of the "secret" orbital weapon satellites should work :|

Since they lack the firepower to bring doom on their own... unless they can mass quantize and realize nukes...

EDIT: It wouldn't be unreasonable to explain the 1st gen IS having excessively powerful 1st and 2nd shifts is because since they weren't really made for combat, and had no purpose other than general; the IS were basically formless. So with the shifts, they achieved a more defined purpose...?

Incidentally, the revived White Knight in Sacred Twins carried what could be explained as fusion grenade launcher.

Relative slow projectile speed, and reload is a pain in the ass, but can and did instantly create micro sun that obliterate anything within 25 meter radius (though can only take out an I.S. if it's a direct hit). Basically what happened if you try to combine thermobaric weapon and incendiary greenade on drug.

Well most of the 1st gen IS I have in mind only have hand carried weapons that were pulled from footsoldiers/tanks and what have you. Basic IS grade solid weapons came a bit later. Then the shifts happened and IS weapons research became that much smoother.

And even then you can only have a limited number of preset, you can say that Gen-1 frame is not storage friendly.

IS grade orbital weaponry... would that be enough to annihilate a city in one shot?

No... more like it was a possibility by the big bad trying to attain this by forcing a 3rd shift via download of data from the orbital weapon they hacked. The objective of the final battle is to keep the big bad from achieving this form or everything will be laid waste to...

Can't say anything considering Sacred Twins' final battle took a place in unfinished orbital elevator... that sounds plausible though.

Well going to sleep now.

By the way, about the question. Can you consider the pilot to have died if they were turned into an equalizer?

Well, I dunno? Depending on how you interpret life.

Anyway, would it be okay if I use the term [Out Shift] for ByakuShiki Engagement form?

@zero: Well... Stratos uses that term so you may want to discuss with him.

For the case of if it's fitting. I think Mode Shift is better... or Assault Shift? cuz shift normally denotes a permanent evolution in IS context @_@
