Can you really do that in practice? Considering the abundance of firearms, ad sometimes illegal one, this is a hard thing to do. FYI 1 of 15 gun always have the same bullet fingerprint, and mark identification only effective 30% of the time, sometimes the mark couldn't even identified at all.
Even bullet stamping (that is, numbering every single bullet based on the pistol used) Is ineffective most of the time.

Hm, you make a good point
Okay, how about this then: Wouldn't they get suspicious that evidence about this org, and only this org, was destroyed? it'd be like "Okay, let's see if we can- Oh, looks like the info on PT corp was deleted on server A....and B......and C,D,E. .....>WTF?"

Of course they are suspicious, but clean up doesn't always mean blowing out computer and killing people. Sometimes one person is enough for the job, a hacker, a spy or a mole.
You asked about spec-ops type, you have the answer already

I already said depending on their standard. Fictional mercenaries can range from benevolent bunch of warriors and blood knight that do anything for money. Also can range form dedicated soldiers to chronic backstabber.
