I'm pretty sure closed form is also inaccessible to non personals. I merely assumed self repairs were only active during closed state. or do I have tamdby and closed forms mixed up?

Well, if we took by direct approach that seems to be plausible case. Still that would be a hassle for the staff to maintain the unit all the time, hence I think status reset also includes self-repairing process.

alternatively.... the maintaince staff have access to close form.....

Would america in ISverse ever dare to openly try and capture Lyon regarding gospel. I just realised while thinking thingz through, would they really send a strike force to a somewhat remote town just to apprehend a boy barely into his teens?

IIRC almost half of the missile are shot down with beam cannon.

As per my suggestion about their aerodynamic problem, I.S. can go faster than missile at higher altitude, and all ballistic missile are just that, fly so high that they briefly fly in near-vacuum.

And since missile are fragile, I imagine WK swatting them like flies at very high speed, testament of Chifuyu's swordplay skill.

I believe they will, but again, covert operation is covert. We're talking about friggin I.S. here, an I.S. that breaks the Alaska treaty by it's very existence no less. And quite literally the most powerful I.S. with the exception of ByakuShiki 2nd form and probably AkaTsubaki as well.

WK shrugging low-caliber autocannon and proximity-detonation missile easily, but WK seems to dodge as much as it could.

It's explained that WK cut the cockpit and separate it from the main fighter, therefore allowing the pilot to eject.

WK also sweeps CIWS and missile launchers on-board warships, and it was implied that Chifuyu probably destroy the propeller and/or the electronic suite (those towers above ship bridges), disabling most of the ships' function without critically damaging them (and causing human casualties).

Finally, there's the satellites that is used to track WK, not explained how Chifuyu destroy them though.

There's also implication of Chifuyu being injured but core 001 revived her, which mean something (likely naval autocannon or heavy/ anti-armor missile) actually do considerable damage.

@Eras: It had a charged particle gun powerful enough to shoot through the atmosphere and a satellite.

@zero: I imagined what if for now america is trying to recapture silver on their own. However they keep getting beat back by gospel. when they realize that gospel is actively being used against them is when they ask ISA for assistance.

Would it be weird for the harem to end up in a student exchange program?

What? You think Japanese Government will let them do as they wish?

In canon, they simply don't have any reason to. You should create that excuse yourself.

For example, the Sky Girls and Ichika was in I.S.A. because of special project, they're not actually a student, but practically one by means of activity and appearance. (funny how this resembles "Alternative Mecha superior than I.S." thing repeatedly used)

Considering half the schools foreign students, what's the point? There are no other IS schools period, so an exchange program is pointless.

well America is trying to keep things hush hush so the strike team isnt big. Just tandard black ops.

When they ask for intervention from ISA to minimize diplomatic backlash, ISA responds by sending in the same team that beat gospel before. However their approach must be subtle. In the end they were sent undercover as new students to Lyon's school
