Hmm... Unfortunately I really need this many guesses.
http://forums.animesuki.com/member.php?u=97138
http://forums.animesuki.com/member.php?u=81598
http://forums.animesuki.com/member.php?u=32441
I based these three simply on searching the "story of your username" thread and thought they might fit the Latin or Arabic description. I would explain in more detail, but there's not much other than that.
http://forums.animesuki.com/member.php?u=94552
And finally, even though they have very few posts and all, the username's story struck me. Zero is an Arabic word while Kira is latin, which both combined make the name, and those two characters match the rest of the riddle.

Soo, we are looking for a person? Or a character? Or what?

See, no matter how I think about it, I dunno who this riddle might be referring to, but it strikes me strongly as referring to the Suzumiya Haruhi series.

I am bound by an "eccentric" beginning and an even end. The first episode is werid - Mikuru 00, ends on the Avatar ep.
Within, I am infinite and finite at the same time. Endless Eight series, a looping of time.
Wherever I go I cause distress. For Kyon, Haruhi is one hell of a troublesome person.

Here's where my reasoning breaks down.
My origin? An amalgam of Latin and Arabic.
Who am I? Haruhi, or someone with that in their name...?

Well, whoever knows the meaning of the last two, the member list for Haru~~ starts at the bottom of this page...

http://forums.animesuki.com/memberli...&ltr=H&page=18

Edit: -ist is a Latin suffix, now for the Arabic part...
Edit2: Maybe the thing refers to Suzumiya, not Haruhi...T_T

Maybe
http://forums.animesuki.com/member.php?u=56256

User's name is Lucipher (=Lucifer, devil; a Latin name with Arabic connections I think) and he/she's on the first page when sorted by reputation ascending (causes distress; could also go with the username)

Is it this?
http://forums.animesuki.com/member.php?u=106232

It's the profile link to Arbitres. He's disabled it which could refer to the end.

Donít the rules mention how the URLs need to be accessible? or something along those lines.

All answers are incorrect. It's going to be difficult to find the right person using only a part of the riddle as each part is essential (without taking into account luck of course). Also, try to think of what the Arabs were known for or associated with; it's not necessarily that the word is Arabic in origin

Hmmm... I am no Arab, but searching the net I found that Arabs are great with Hospitality, they take care of their visitors very nice (don't know if this is correct ) so....

http://forums.animesuki.com/member.php?u=1975

Am I going in right direction?

If you got your answer from here

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_arabs_famous_for

Then the second guess you probably would have said would be the food o.o? I'm positive you used this since it closely resembles the Hospitality answer.

^ Have you read the Opening Post?

Quote:
Originally Posted by NightWish View Post
A while ago (6+ years) a group of forum users (Kazoo Club) ran a Scavenger Hunt on the forum. The premise was very simple: solve a riddle and find a part of the forum. The answer to each riddle was the URL of a page accessible to all members. Back then it was limited to threads, posts, or user profiles.

It worked like this: the contest was broken into twenty rounds. In each round a cryptic riddle was presented by one member of the group. The rest of the forum (staff included) tried to solve it. There was no specific time limit but if it went on too long hints were given. Once a member of the group agreed that the riddle was solved, a new one was presented. There was no fixed timetable for this, so everyone had to keep alert. After all twenty riddles had been solved the person who correctly solved the most riddles won a prize.

The purpose was ... just for fun. It was also community building, encouraged the use of the forum search features, and drew attention to areas of the forum less frequently visited... but that was just a bonus.

I liked this idea and thought it would be a really good idea to run it again as many of our current users weren't around for the original. So here is what I'm proposing:

We don't have a club to run it this time, and I'm not very good at creating riddles... so I want forum members to submit riddles. It'll add a new dimension to the challenge. Submissions need to be sent to me directly by private message, in the form of a riddle obviously, presented exactly as it should be posted. The PM should include an explanation of the riddle and have a URL answering the riddle. I will test and approve the riddles to ensure they can be solved by a regular member (i.e. the URL isn't private). If all is well with the submission I'll put it on a list. You can submit as many riddles as you like (the more the better), but I don't guarantee when, or if, I will use a riddle, even if approved.

The rules will be similar to the original hunt, with the exception that the URL can now point at: the wiki, the social groups, and other things that didn't exist originally provided they are directly connected to the site/forum.

Once we have enough collected the contest will begin in earnest, following basically the same outline as before. If I don't get enough riddles the content will just keep waiting until I do. I will probably only use one riddle from each person in each twenty-round run to be fair on everyone.

When everything is ready I'll ask Kairin to post one of the riddles, in this thread in the riddles thread, for the forum as a whole to solve. Kairin will post no more than one riddle per day. It will probably be less frequently and as before there will be no strict pattern to when the next riddle posted! If the current riddle is unsolved after two weeks, the author of the riddle will get 1 point towards their hunt total and in addition to 50 reputation points for the submission being used. If the riddle is solved, the first member to solve it (post the URL with a justification) gets 1 point towards their hunt total.

After twenty riddles have been solved, the winners will be announced. Any tie situations will be resolved by more riddles, or by some other challenge as I see fit. The main prizes will be awarded accordingly:
1st Prize:
  • $50 gift voucher*
  • 750 reputation points.
2nd Prize:
  • $25 gift voucher*
  • 500 reputation points.
3rd Prize:
  • 250 reputation points.
If the riddles keep coming, the contest will continue in twenty-round runs. Prizes might differ though, subject to my finances .

Any questions?

Alright well since no one has been able to get it, the "Arabic" part refers to something that was passed to Europe through the Arabs--it isn't an object, by the way. The latin is sort of self explanatory. If no one can get it, then I'll just tell you guys what the Arabic part means.

I hope amalgam there is just a fancy way of saying “mix” cause otherwise my english is too poor to know what the hell it's suppose to mean. Overall, sounds to me like it's some sort of number; since the numeral system is from the arabic world (unless I'm mistaken). Infinite and finite could refer to how the number has a period (ie. 123.(6), or something like PI). Probably not things like PI though since then it's impossible to say “it has a even end”.

The distress probably means there it’s some sort of unlucky number, ie. 13, 4 (or any variation of 4, eg. 24, 14, 34, etc), 17, 88, 666. 13 and 17 are out since they are not even, so tacking “amalgam of latin and arabic” to mean religion and numerals, some random guesses based on 666

Close (in the sense that no other guess was in the correct direction). You've solved the gist of it, but there are some key parts that you misinterpreted...but I'm not going to tell you where because that would be too easy

I-irrational numbers in general? Some are infinite while others are not, I think. (And could be defined as fractions to be finite anyway). Cause distress for unfortunate math students, and irrational numbers were developed by Arabic as well as European mathematicians.
