PlayStation Vita's Torne app pulls in live TV streams served up from a PS3

Quote:
Need another reason to be interested in the PlayStation Vita? Sony announced during tonight's press conference that it will tie in with the only-available-in-Japan Torne DVR adapter (PlayTV in Europe and nonexistent in NA) for the PlayStation 3. Once synced up, it allows users to remotely tune into live TV streams Slingbox-style, browse listings and remotely schedule recordings via an app on the portable device. It should be ready to go at launch, while the ability to export recorded shows to the Vita like one of Monsoon's boxes will be added later. For now however, we can only look on in envy and hope rumors of a PlayTV 2 eventually come true, and come out here.

I'm with you. A red Vita is absolutely required to buy.

Some really nice trailers though. Seems like I'll definitely buy more games for this system than I ever did for the PSP.

Game is published by Square Enix, and made by entersphere founded by former Nintendo Staffer Motoi Okamoto in 2008. Apparently there are a couple of more ex-nintendo people involved, mostly programers.

Just heard that Disgaea 3 is coming for Vita.

I am almost 100% going to buy a Vita now because of it. I played 1 and 2 already, but am not in a permanent residence right now so don't really want to purchase a full size console. The fact that it would contain all old DLC content sold it for me.

Sony has confirmed that as far as they themselves know, Vita is region-free. So unless something freaky happens there is no plan for locks.

Keep in mind that region lock for games was actual a Nintendo invention. For their NES / Famicom divide.

Just a lot of nice stuff coming to the Vita. Obviously new games are going to be the key, but at least the ports of games I already know are good is a good step. Definitely want to get into Persona 4 and of course Disgaea 3 on it. With Disgaea 3 didn't really buy any DLC so this would actually be pretty nice.

Just an update from Tokyo Game Show; absolute certainty that Vita is region-free from Sony.

Anyone mentioned it already? PSV and PSP adhoc read more on siliconera.com
Not really interesting for myself, but important for japan and school yards i think, until the big bully comes around the corner ^^.

Siliconera have even got an article on army corps of hell, read it on their page.
IIRC it is a lunch title, reckon it is a good buy for the 30m breaks one has at the work space.

It would likely be no worse than dropping your usual cell phone. Electronics are getting more and more fragile as they tried to push the limits of what the hardware can do. The days when you can drop a gameboy on the floor is long gone.

Hope that the vita would have a bangle for your wrist, like with the PSP...

... Or else it would be a mindbreak if you break such tiny thing which cost more expensive than a PS3!

That's kind of a bummer, I was wish Vita would make it by the end of the end. It'd make a nice Christmas present. But I guess two and half month delay isn't too bad.

Yeah would have been nice to have at Christmas, but what can you do. At least there is something more firm to look forward to now.
