The one thing about that counter is that it's to your front side. Maybe you can't counter if the animation is triggered from the prone position, which I'd think is the least likely to get a counter.

Bf2 had big maps. 128 players were ok. Close to a crapshow, but ok.

Because we're lazy.

Cos BF4 is basically BF3. It just has a different engine now.

So...Spectator mode is back, too, eh?

In retrospect, it seems the destructible skyscraper feature is limited to certain landmarks (four, IIRC) and the collapses appear somewhat scripted (I mean, the layout of the ruins after the said collapse doesn't seem to be dynamically generated). But one interesting thing is that the said breakdown causes visibility in the area to seriously degrade thanks to the dust cloud. Regardless, the skyscrapers can be brought down by hammering (with cannon/rocket fire or explosives) at least four support pillars; once those are demolished, the building comes crashing down.

Not sure how DICE reworked the Recon class, though - with the (re)appearance of the Commander Mode, some of its features, such as the man-portable MAV, have become redundant.

Also...it seems the team colors are now fixed. BF4 no longer sticks to the "Red = Enemy, Blue = Friend" differentiation.

*casts temporary necromancy spell*

After observing a certain nascent trend within the BF4 community, I became curious.

How many BF4 players, exasperated by the cornucopia of fails, imbalances (AAA, choppers, jets) and bugs (cornershots, faulty killcams, insufficient tick rate, sound disappearing, one-hit kills, sluggish gameplay compared to BF3) that have plagued the game, have returned to BF3?

I, for one, have made the switch back, having been rather unimpressed by the latest Naval Strike DLC (let's not talk about the Second Assault DLC, which has mangled several BF3 maps instead of visibly improving them)...and boy does it feel like catharsis and epiphany mixed into a single, glorious blend a thousand times over.

Gameplay is fast and dynamic. Hit detection is decent. I don't get cornerkilled. Graphics look sharper (my GFX settings are set to Medium on BF4, High-Ultra on BF3). Jets and choppers actually feel like they can make a difference. People are actually dropping ammo and med packs when you request them.

Suppression and tints are back but it's like happily reconciling yourself with an old friend you've been on bad terms with for a lo~ng time already. You feel like "it's okay, it's all water under the bridge, we'll pull through", shrug and get on with it. The only thing I regret is the more primitive sniper scope in BF3 - I prefer BF4's new range adjustment system and the availability of more powerful optics (20x and 40x).

It's a pity there's no longer as many servers as there once was (you'll have BF4 to thank for that), but there's still a decent pool of them up and running. I went back to BF3 a couple weeks ago, preferring the raw feel of BF3 to the gimmicks of BF4. I even completed the last of the 75 assignments, which I thought I'd never finish - and boy did that feeling of elation and accomplishment feel good when the milestone was, at long last, reached.

I've stuck with BF4, but I am not playing it nearly as much as I did BF3 (well, my job has something to do with that, since I was in school still when I was playing BF3). I am irked by a lot of things in BF4, but I am not sure I'd like going "back" to BF3 even if it was better. A lot of people I know felt that way about Day of Defeat vs. Day of Defeat: Source. I didn't see them go back simply because the newer one was the newer one and that's where most people were.
