Chapter 10 is out...

It's amazing how much plot and all Harumi can fit into a chapter.
Spoiler for Chapter 10:

Next chapter, please!

I'm guessing she goes back to Yuki now that Nitta pissed her off with that comment.

I'm not sure if he meant it, I think he did. He does have a right to say that now since she hasn't really been friendly-friendly with him, you know?

And the art is so amaaazing.

Boy I hope not. My young and pure heart won't be able to take that.

Seriously though, I don't like the idea.

And, in general to everyone, please avoid spoiling future chapters. Thanks.

This is a surprisingly interesting and "sensitive" character study, along with some really tasty art. Glad I stumbled across this...

Chapter 10: It almost feels like walking on broken glass a bit. Kano is changing inside, but it's clearly visible that she's unsure where she wants to get. On one hand she's beginning to gradually giving him more influence over her (choosing the clothes), on the other hand she's resisting his (natural and non-conscious) attempts to get closer to her. Her shock about his kiss on her mouth, and subsequently her _late_ refusal of it were handled in a very sensitive manner.

The way I see it, she's gradually developing some feelings for him, but she is held back and hurt by Nitta's displayed "I'm just following orders of a rich horny spoiled brat" attitude. She wants to get closer, but "not like this". This is - as far as I can remember - the first time that she tried to interrupt their lovemaking ever, further emphasizing the change in Kano.

Likewise, Nitta is not noticing any of it. He's actually attracted by her quite a bit (the second time he kissed her on the mouth), but since he feels merely jerked around by her. So he's living out his spite openly, as a means of self-protection, and stinging Kano with it.

Nice case of hedgehog love at the moment ... this is bound to get worse before it gets better.

Actually the last line could have been translated in a more crude way

Spoiler for like:

So soba scans kind of went for softer interpretation so that Nitta's words would be stingy but not as stingy as it could have.

Kano's reaction is fully understandable. And more complications to their relationship are incoming.

I wonder if ever Nitta will understand Kano.

On the other hand Kano isnt make it easy to understand. She is still a tsundere but in a cold way, making it harder for a guy who doesnt look into things too deeply.

He just thinks she is a mean brat who has occasional cute spurts but otherwise is still his bully. More humiliating is that she is not only younger but also rich one who was born with silver spoon in her mouth.

Kano herself doesnt understand her feelings fully. And is too prideful and stubborn to try to decipher them, particularly when Nitta doesnt look like he could return them, with all those snide remarks of his.

Wow, 20 chapters already huh? Anything interesting we should know about? Conflicts, realization of feelings?

Wow, I'm surprised that I would stumble upon a discussion about Harumi Chihiro's work here, of all places.

I'm quite impressed on how Harumi-sensei is handling the story, compared to Making Love is Hard Work! which is a bit rage-inducing due to the aspect of "work over personal affairs", which seems to be normal in the corporate scene.

I have yet to see the couple get over their personal thoughts of each other, but seeing the last translated chapter makes me realize things will take longer than expected. They should hurry up soon... Nitta's brother and Kano's mother are mighty suspicious.

not surprising

it's women mangaka who are more open about these things.
They've been doing this since Sei Shonagan and before that.

The somewhat recent B Gata H Kei and Aki Sora for instance, were both drawn by women

male mangaka prefer to run in circles around the issue, which is why you get so many silly harem hijinks

Yep, the best somewhat-raunchy stuff seems to come from female mangakas doing series that are obstensibly seinen/shounen.

Well, Shoujo/Josei manga is said to be more smutty than Shonen/Seinen manga since most of them have female mangaka, so it's not THAT surprising when female mangaka write Shonen/Seinen that they are that open. Also, you think that this series will last 3 volumes like her last work? Cause the way things are going, it's the same route. Love, cheating, conflict, then back to love.

Not like that is anywhere else where you can discuss something like this without an immature response, lol.

Spoiler for Falling in Love is Work:
I think we'll get more than three volumes out of this, at least I hope so.

And please don't spoil her last series for others (add spoiler tags, perhaps). Besides, this one is quite different.

I think 5 vols at most maybe 6, would be best, it's honestly a little hard seeing this gone on longer than that without having to drag the story out.

Throw in too many conflicts/melo/drama and you stand to bog down the story, which could happen here as it does with every story.

Is there an advantage to the conflict coming early in this series based on the info Darknemo gave us? I hope it doesn't affect the flow of the story with a false setting of all drama no progress.

I don't know which info Darknemo gave (avoiding spoilers at all costs) but we've had a fair amount of drama and a lot of progress so far. Harumi Chihiro is an excellent writer.
