The English dub is fairly good.

This, more so than the two movies, shared a lot of similarities with GitS:SaC for obvious reasons (with many of the same themes revolving around identity/humanity), though the CGI..ness I'm sure was/will be a real turnoff for more...stringent anime fans. Though it's strange, as it's almost like cel-shaded CGI. Almost.

The use of repeated scenes/flashbacks from previous episodes was a bit egregarious, making me think of the first half of Noir. As it was an OVA (I believe), it seemed a bit weird, as the cynic can't help but think that is usually due to TV animation budgets, which normally isn't as big an issue for an OVA.

I've always felt Appleseed would have made a kick-ass JRPG if done by Monolith. These 13 episodes definitely reinforced that.

Lastly, it was nice that things largely ended in episode 12, leaving an entire episode as an epilogue of sorts. I wish more anime approached their endings this way.
