Altruistic Selfless Characters

Similar to this thread:

Altruism

However, I'm leaning towards characters that take more of a lead role, and have supernatural bent like:

Araragi in Bakemonogatari
Natsume in Natsume Yuujinchou & Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou
Itsuki Iba in Rental Magica

I was especially inspired by the fact that both characters have risked their lives for the sake of others and was hoping to find similar anime. Female leads are great as well.

Have you seen To Aru Majutsu no Index?

There's also Emiya Shirou from Fate Stay Night, but it's only really apparent in the visual novel where there's a much deeper side revealed to his altruism.

Yeah it would be much better if he wasn't a dumbass in the anime a lot of the time.

Back on topic, from the top of my head would be Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin, assuming you consider his skills as godlike as his technique implies.

Run, do not walk, and watch Seirei no Moribito. Balsa is just the woman for you.

Hmmm I'll definitely second all four mentioned here they all fit for sure.

Two from the other thread that I think fit what you're looking for Juuni Kokuki, though it may not seem so immediately it will be seen in the lead female character by the end . And assuming "magic" qualifies as supernatural then Nanoha the lead of Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha for sure, she's an extremely Altruistic person in nature .

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I'm going to start with To Aru Majutsu no Index, and work my way down.

Kenzo Tenma from Monster - probably the most altruistic character I know, though there is no supernatural setting.
If you like realistic "nice guy" characters who do not come off as too naive, look no further than Tenma.

It's just a little big aged, but try Now and Then, Here and There. It's incredibly dark, though, so tread lightly.

Not everyday I get to throw out a recommendation for a old school anime:
Jungle no Ouja Taa-chan

Fun anime with a mix toilet humor and serious emotional moments.
