Yeah, that can happen when your cowardice ends up keeping you alive. It's like I say a lot of wimpy characters: if you're going to make them wimpy, why don't you take advantage of it and have their wimpiness actually contribute to the plot rather than stall it?

I'm starting to love the new OP and ED much more than I did the first OP and ED.

I really want to see a grief-stricken, Machiavellian Yukki, who'll go to any length in order to become a God.

Thanks to the unusual character choice for Yukki, it is unpredictable how the ending will go. And I like that.... I want this anime to surprise me!!!!

Yuno's parents really were a piece of work. It's really no wonder that Yuno is the way she is. Their treatment of her was absolutely terrible. Though considering how they reacted to being caught themselves it makes me wonder if they didn't have some kind of mental disorder that screwed them up. Of course they might just have been idiots.

Well, whatever. That was surprisingly badass, considering who did it. Yuki went Rambo.
Yeah Yuki's father was finally good for something. At least by dying he helped give Yuki the motivation to really fight and fight to win. If he had just gone to jail for murder it probably wouldn't have gotten Yuki as focused on winning.

OK, so after some putting together, I have a theory on Yuno.

Spoiler for Yuno Theory Speculation:

Well, those are my theories on Yuno currently with the information provided. I don't want a confirmation if I am right or not, but discussions on the theory is fine.

Your theory is pretty much the same stuff a good friend of mine says. He also claims there is another Yuno from another dimension that killed and replaced Yuno in this world.

However, if you think back to the beginning of episode one, this is what we see:

Yukki lying unconscious or dead on the floor and desperate Yuno bending over him... then she looks up and sees a silueth of somebody with an axe over her, who looks suspiciously like Yuno and then she gets slaughtered..... or at least we are left to assume that, because we see blood splatter. In other words, we see Yuno slaughtering herself. So you probably got the part right, that there were two Yunos and one killed the other... but.... in what world did that happen?
I mean, in this world Yukkis is just fine, isnt he? He didnt die and he has no recollection of lying half dead or unconscious in some house.

Also.... was it really Yuno who got killed in that scene? We see splatter, yes, but whose blood is it? This is left purposely ambiguous.

Now, there are dozens of different interpretations of this. When I first saw this scene, I asumed it is a scene from the future. Yukki got knocked out, or is close to dying..... Yuno is bending over him.... gets attacked. And I still could be right, that this is a scene from the future.

However, there are enough pointers, that there are indeed two Yunos out there. If it isnt a twin sister, it could be:

1. Yuno from a different dimension, who already lost her Yukki and gone insane
2. Yuno has a split personality and what we see there musnt be taken literally. This could easily be a "fight club" type of scene, where the two personalities fight each other.... BUT that doesnt explain the third corpse in the house.... so we are back to square one and I say there are two Yunos.

But the question I am asking myself is: Is it really Yunos blood splatter in the first episode? What if the second Yuno sees Yukki as the source of her problems and tries to kill him instead? Its just an idea....

I wonder if people even remember that first scene? Because not many people talk about it. Yeah, it's not a very clear scene, but you'd think somebody (who didn't read the manga) would speculate on it.

I just get the sense there really aren't that many people watching the anime who haven't already read the manga (at least amongst people who participate in online discussion forums). It's too hard for manga readers to comment on speculation without spoiling something or other -- and it's only going to get worse from here on out -- hence the relative lack of speculation...there's maybe a handful of people who can speculate, but no one wants to respond to them, so their enthusiasm wears out quickly.

It's a pity too, b/c I've been hoping to see more reactions from first-time viewers than we've been getting.

I'm one of those who didn't read the manga, and since the lack of speculations I didn't speculate myself (I do enough on Another btw) but some hints thrown lately in the 3d let me speculating on Yuno, so reading thundrakkon and warita I'll add this screenshot that looks like significant. Or not, since I don't speak/read Japanese
Spoiler for ep. 8 s.shot:

If my theories are correct, then the current Yuno knows everything that is about to happen. She knows who is the bad guy, and who betrays who. Hence, if she is out to kill someone, it is probably for good reason.

Spoiler for More Speculation:

I definitely don't remember episode one that well... lol All the the theories written in the thread have inspired me to re-watch it entirely, or maybe just the scenes mentioned.

She broke a generational curse there, that's for sure. I'm betting her parents had gone through similar if not the same disciplining methods growing up. They probably never met their parents' ridiculously high expectations, therefore they can't handle the feelings of unworthiness that followed. To counter that they put all their attention and energy into perfecting Yuuno to help with their own self image and worth in a roundabout way. That's why the mother was crying out that Yuuno was not her daughter, because she was rebelling and going on the attack rather than just taking it all in like an elite is supposed to. There is no way such a defiant daughter came from her, who is supposed to be perfect and elite
And uh, of course she was pissed off to be locked in that cage :P

I rather liked finally getting some background info on Yuuno and her parents. I can finally grasp her character more. I still don't comprehend her obsession over Yukki though. Even though I know how it originated, it still perplexes me that she can be SO attracted to such a wimpy guy.

Thanks for the news. Interesting to see what they do with the idea of future diaries, especially since (imho) it's actually kind-of a bad idea to base a show around. But it's not surprising they're just doing a different story, as it's not like late-night Japanese TV dramas can really afford the budget it'd take to do a live-action version of Mirai Nikki.

I could get behind that.

Wait, what?! Then what's the point of using the manga, if they are not using the characters, story, and art... what's left oh! yeah... the cow's milk
