Mine Fujiko is the origin of fanservice dude, and it still works after 40 years. (oppai!)
![]() Hmm, story kinda boring this ep, just an excuse to introduce Ishikawa the 13th and have him do his thing, of course THAT was cool. Daisuka Namikawa plays him very well. Nice to see another side of Fujiko though. |

Damn! Finally got around to watching the first three episodes. I wont bother reciting all the praising adjectives, I'll just say that I agree with all of them! This is a super fine anime.
Third episode was great. Ishikawa felt like a somewhat humorous take on the traditional samurai/Japanese character. It wasn't a parody by any means, but I caught myself laughing at his remarks more than once (yelling "Amai!" etc.). I actually didn't know Ishikawa Goemon was a legendary Japanese outlaw. Anyways, I like the style of this show a lot. Can't wait for more!

So I can safely recommend this show to my female friends, despite the fanservice, just because I can excuse it being directed and written by women? On one hand Mine is strong, but on the other she's like a skank like no other lol.
I personally don't mind (Mine is probably the only anime character I find sexy topless; and unlike most other fanservice girls it's her damn character), but I'm undecided to recommend this great anime as I'd probably get a glaring look or two.

Mine is a classic dame. In movies with soundtracks like this one, a dame is always the hero's downfall. Check out some classic film noir (the real inspiration for Lupin) and you'll see she fits right in.
I don't exactly think Mine is a triumph of feminism, but she does ultimately have control over every guy she meets (except Lupin himself). It just so happens that like every film noir leading lady she uses her feminine wiles as well as her smarts to get it.
