Blood Lad. Last Thoughts

Well, this has been the second title I'm done for the about to end Summer 2013 season.

Blood Lad with all of its anime culture tropes and slapstick humor never attempted to took itself seriously, which is precisely a good thing. The action is commendable, and the characters are the good, creepy bunch.

I do feel bad, nonetheless, that the show went out from the radar of the mainstream community of fans. However, that would make the few of us watching it look like exclusive members of a priviledged club.

There's still lots of things going on for many us to say the story has come to an end:
1. What's in store for Staz and Fuyumi?
2. Will Braz consume his vengeance?
3. Will Wolf-Boy overcome the burden of feeling inferior to Staz?
etc, etc, etc.

One thing for sure is that there's still a Blu-ray episode to get released by the end of the year, which I'm looking forward to.

Commendable show and praise to Staz at being a non-conventional, dark hero type of sorts.

That's what I like about this show too. It takes the piss out of shonen shows.

I'll probably have to start the manga now; for manga readers, where does the show end at?

Around the last chapters (29~31), just pick it up from the beginning.

I just assumed he was - I don't think they make much effort to misdirect on that point.

I suggest picking up from the very beginning. As like all shows adapted to anime, there are places that was changed or left off.
Or at the very least, start from the beginning of the Hydra arc, the anime really left out some important stuff there.

While the plot seemed more or less interesting, I didn't expect to enjoy it this much. The comedy worked for me and I just love Staz. It isn't in my top 3 of the season but made me want to give a try to the manga.

I recommend reading the manga. It became a favorite of mine before I finished volume 1. Now it's near the top of my I Can't Wait for the Next Release list.

too shounen-ish for what I expected, had to drop it for a few weeks and then resume watching it with that mindset.

There are nine volumes out, each volume is about five chapters and the show ended on chapter 30. So my guess would be about twenty chapters ahead give or take a couple.

Wasn't quite feeling a lot of the humor in the OVA. But the fight scenes were pretty well done and fun to watch. And that epilogue put a huge smile on face.
8/10

Those vampire hunters were totally LOL
The Wild West theme was interesting.
Fuyumi is still as hopeless as ever...
Vampire hunter vs Staz & Fuyumi was pretty much ROFL
Guess this OVA is more about having fun and a few laughs.
The fight scenes were nicely done as well.
