µTorrent [DHT: waiting to log in]

at the bottom of the window in µTorrent it has said "DHT; waiting to log in" literally all day. i've been using µTorrent 1.3 since it came out and i haven't had this problem until now, i think. i just noticed it today, i was susicious b/c my downloads were execptionally slow, but i may have had this problem since i installed the new Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4 a couple of days ago. could the cause of this problem be firewall related. i looked around the firewall controller but i couldn't find anything that would allow me to make exeptions for µTorrent or anything like that, so i'm kind of stumped...

Unless you can grant uTorrent full incoming connections on its listen port (Both TCP and UDP) and unrestricted outbound connections, you will probably continue to have problems.

Check the documentation for kerio to see if it has some guides.

None unless someone knows which port you're using and is also able to do something to uTorrent to make uTorrent crash or takeover your computer (which is hard, most of the time).
Summarised answer: No. You have the greater risk when you browse the internet with a unpatched Internet Explorer that being hacked through either/or a TCP or UDP port.

still haven't figured it out...does anyone have a solution? i don't have much experience with firewalls and the people at both the sunbelt and utorrent forums aren't being much help.

I realize this is an old thread, but in case anyone happens to see this having the same problem, try this:

Check advanced settings in utorrent under preferences. I deleted an IP address under "net.bind_ip" and reset. That gave me a green check for DHT and increased my DL/UL times.

I also noticed that there's a setting for "net.outgoing_ip." Mine was blank, but if the first suggestion doesn't work, I'd try deleting that one too.

dht waiting to log on

the problem has been caused with the updated version of u torrent and the changes of settings and is nothing to do with any anti virus or spyware. just go in to settings and click on preferences then scheduler. enable the scheduler then untick the box which says disable DHT when logging off. apply and restart u torrent and you will log on to the DHT and your problem is solved permanently

Hmm, my guess is that there is a step missing could you tell me which firewall/router you are under and perhaps I can take a peek at how to set things up for you. If you dont feel comfortable posting here by all means you may message me.
