Was at a Japanese Buffet Restaurant with an old friend. $25 per head.

And we caught them playing Mizuki Nana's BRIGHT STREAM over the ambient music.

New phone time, ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note II with a 5.5" screen, a 'phabulous phablet'. I may have to get a Han Solo hip holster for the damned thing.

Also, about to order a solid state drive finally for the OS drive, likely an 840 Pro.

And I bartered some IT work for a Fender 4-string Jazz electric bass guitar.

I want phones to shrink again. The 4.65" Galaxy Nexus is about the biggest I can tolerate.

I'd like a phone with an sdcard slot to replace this one, though... maybe I'll look at the newer Sony xperia models.

Agreed, this is the largest I'll ever go and mostly because I usually wear a jacket or trench coat anyway. I don't need my phone to be a tablet. Heck, my "throwaway" laptop is just about a tablet.

I stuck to my S2 when S3 came out because I didn't want a lump in my pocket.

Going back to the size of S2 should be great. Phablets are for narcissists.

bought this speaker yesterday on amazon: $139.99 no tax+ free shipping.
Creative GigaWorks T40

comments: i would have bought it as amazon's product for $129.99, but they stated it'll
be around 1-2 months for them to have it in stock...lol...no thanks.
i'll use these speakers for my super computer and when playing my ps3 games
on my Dell U3011 monitor. i have a really good sound card, so it'll be good with these
speakers. i'm not planning to blow the house down, so these speakers are good enough
for me. that and i dont want a huge boom box (bass) laying around. i preferred a somewhat
portable speakers. just waiting on these to arrive now...hopefully, this week would be nice.

^ why, is it that bad? i read some of the reviews and thought it was pretty decent.
perhap you talking about the prices? i'm looking for speakers that are somewhat portable
with decent sound+bass without that fat bass laying around. i only found this one to be
good. i dont really like the Bose speakers much...overpriced and bad quality from what i
bought from them last time. >___>;

i'm still going to have to wait for these to arrive and then see them for myself if i really like them or not.

I only have to keep it a year and I do get a turnaround in 30 days if I think its too gargantuan ... but yeah, I consider "phablet" an accurate derogatory term to describe the trend. OTOH, all the other attributes I love (takes an axe and readies to trim off half an inch when it arrives).

I use 5.1 for general use and gaming (and you know they're working when you turn around to make sure that sound didn't come from the dark open door behind you :P). I once thought about getting a sound card to improve them but that would only really matter to me when listening to music. Turns out the dac/amp I go pretty much overrides any sound card I would put in. Considering the time of night I listen to music, it turns out it's best to listen on headphones anyways.

^ i've a 5.1 surround sound speakers from Logitech. i only bought these Creative Labs one
for the portableness. oh yeah, my 5.1 speakers are collecting major dust right now. the one
i have really have a huge bass. i just dont have any room to fit them anymore...

i'm also going to use that Creative Labs one for headphone usage as well since it does have
a headphone jack to stick it in. and you can contorl the volume+bass+treble on the speakers
while listening to the headphone. that's a really great deal for me right there when i was looking
to buy the speakers.

the sound card i have was a ASUS Sonar Essence one. it's pretty nice, but cost quite a bit of $
for a sound card.

Creative Labs went through a "really bad period" of producing utter crap. I honestly don't know what the speaker tech specs look like these days. Typically, I repurpose home theater stuff if I'm not on studio headphones.

I find it annoying that it is rather hard to get useful data from product descriptions any more (like, most say 20-20K but response is never linear and they don't give any graphs now).

thanks for the info. i didnt notice that Creative Labs made a bunch of craps back then. i guess they
are doing ok now since i havent heard anything bad from their speakers...at least from reviewers.

cant really 100% trust reviewers, but they are something to think about. them speakers
were already shipped today, sweet. i'll be able to get them on Thursday 28th. if these
speakers turn out craps, i'll never buy another Creative Labs speakers ever again.

we'll wait and see. i dont think it's going to be that bad...hopefully.
