Fill episodes 1-9 with fanservice and foreshadowing then suddenly cram as much plot as possible in the last 3 eps It's early if you look at it from a 12 episode perspective, but it's 10 here. They still followed the formula: Last 3 eps contain the plot.

![]() In any case, the first half of the first season is a fine example of this working out fine... the filled the first four episode with fanservice, foreshadowing, and clues, and resolved everything in the last one and half episodes. Outside harem (all thiings considered), Another did the same, even had a whole beach episode. NoitaminA/Okada Mari's Black Rock Shooter too, Horizon... even Nisemonogatari. This approach is common for TV series, because having a non-stop plot takes away the interest, questions and discussion between the week-long intervals; and unlike films where you have the same duration but without interruptions, casual viewers will forget most of the stuff that happened last week, but remember plot-significant events.

Zombie Side-A 07 - Just Don't Call It "Medicine"
Even when this show goes into "plot" mode, it's still patently ridiculous. Like I said back when the first season was airing, this show never lets a serious moment get in the way of a good joke. All the foreshadowing for now pays off, and ChrisTINA became simultaneously pitiable, hilarious and threatening with her classroom of death routine. Only in this universe is "turn into an old man, turn back by the power of booze" a reasonable curse. That's not to say Chris got all the funny lines. Having Haruna and Eu switch roles for the first half of the episode made for some hilarious stuff. The "delusion" with Haruna comes to mind, as does the list of transgressions that Chris has done. She probably also keeps Atlantis off the maps and keeps the Martians under wraps. Everything goes back to Chris. Slapstick, wordplay, magic, character comedy, all on display here for what I believe is one of the funniest episodes Zombie's produced yet. |

What Kore wa zombie desu ka has been wittingly and cunning about making fun so much is that it parodies o rather mocks the fact that everyone one day has to become an adult and kiss good-bye to youth.
This happens at episode seven's climax, and Chris's truth isn't far off from the real truth. To think that people is measured by the value of their hearts it works if it still you're a child, because unfortunately people fixate on you based on the first impression, and so you got to make a good impression if you want to prevent from people at the outside thinking badly of you. Still, it was big shock twister that Chris the teacher and Chris the masou-shoujo actually are one and the same person, and it really was so lewd thinking for a moment what would anyone's reaction be had Chris the teacher winked his eyes back to the audience. ![]() Oh, well, Chris the masou-shoujo managed to lmao and lol all the way through when the student literally skyrocketed into the sky. That and watching you speaking to Ayumu which was so darn cute, but let's never fantasize about Haruna again, or she'll ruin the fantasy cuteness with her money-grubbing tendencies.

It's also the reason why Harem or Rom-Com animes whose source material undergo a genreshift don't work that well. Take Negima for example- by the time the plot really get's serious, two cours are gone. Or even, say Medaka Box, where it's taking two thirds of an Entire Cour before the first serious Arc even hits. For Kore Wa Zombie's case, I personally think that Chris would have been a villain out of no-where without the past three quarters Cour worth of development. As it is, the reception of her as an antagonist seems to be quite warm. Indeed, I'd think Chris is a case of how to better introduce and flesh out Antagonists, and make you actually care. |

So like, what happened in episode 7? The students forgot about Ayumu when the chainsaw was fixed but now they all witnessed magic in front of them again. Did they clean up their memories?
And I'm a bit confused, so Chris took Haruna's mana which was supposed to be Eu's mana and together with the ring, her curse is lifted?

Lets say Eu had 250 man points and haruna 50. 250 mana points is painful, you are overflowing with magic, you are a glass of wate full and any movement makes it spill. Lets take 200 point from Eu and put them into Haruna, hence haruna can no longer talk without having headaches and Eu can talk freely. Chris took the 200 mana points and recovers her original form (dunno if because she is overflowing with magic or because she used the 200 mana points to cast a monstrous dispel magic/remove curse). I dunno if Eu recovered her 200 mana points naturaly (at the worst posible moment) or if by using the ring Chris caused their mana to reset. Of course this is my humble understanding, someone that did read the LN please fill us in.

![]() That said the source material is strong enough to offset all the cheap decision the producers have made ![]() Indeed, Monogatari showed how ecchi can be a serious plot that even mainstream audience can buy (and the rest hate), while KoreZon tries the same for fanservice and unbound sarcasm. There are unfortunately very few shows that attempt such levels of subversion (Inukami, Kodomo no Jikan, Koi Kaze, Asura Cryin' and Rotte no Omocha) and most fail to sell ![]() Quote:

Seriously only 10 episodes? Geeze I wasn't happy it'd even taken this long to get the plot going and now we have even less of it than I expected.
This has been a really odd season. Just kind of fooling around and now they'll get a bit serious with only a couple episodes to do it in. Well will just have to enjoy these last few episodes and hope for another season. At least the fanservice helped leave us without a completely empty second season.
