I thought it was much more serious than that. They actually designed a set of decent-looking mecha and the concept of BETAs just to watch the pilots sex it up? I'm checking out the event CG of Alternative and it's not the case. In fact, none of the sex scenes involved the bodysuits! (I'm disappointed. ;_; )

Personally I think the tight suits are just a component of the VN. Yes there are supposed background explanations and you can pretend there's a legit reason though personally I'm not looking for a justification so it is fine the way it is! I'm sure the mecha and suits etc all started out as additional elements to lure in more buyers. I don't think most fans of Muv-Luv follow the series solely because of the suits or mecha, they are just bonuses.

Think about it, the whole premise of giant humanoid machines as machines of war (more outrageously, cost effective machines of war) does not fly outside of the mecha genre. You'd think it's better to devote world resources to 're-productive activities' given the population is so depleted (with girls left lolz). So instead, don't even think about it!

That was a surprisingly good first episode for something based off an eroge. Color me tentatively enthused that there might be an action-oriented show worth watching this season.

Marcus Hentai... Those are mean to bring the visual appeal to the series, to attract more buyers.

just finished watching the episode again for the fifth time. I think I'm starting to get used to the opening... I guess that can't be good, huh? I just can't get enough of the launching scene of the Zuikaku... even though something akin to an 8-bit music was playing in the background...

I have no idea about TE, but the original wasn't exactly very chipper, let's put it that way. I don't think TE will be different, considering episode 1's doom and gloom.

Well things are looking rather poor for humanity in this one. Certainly makes some sense to not bother with material for the pilot uniforms since they are utterly screwed if hit anyways. The mechs are getting chewed up and don't seem to be doing much damage.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but seems like this series should be pretty solid. Obviously much despair and loss like one girl's boyfriend getting offed.

Things are looking rather bad though. Forget protecting that supply base, they should just try to survive for a minute. Frankly I think that 8 minute life expectancy is exaggerating things.

Episode was a little bouncy in terms of scenes. Start up a rivalry and five minutes later resolve it. I get they want to get to the war asap, but made you wonder what was the point since a lot happened in a hurry.

yea the Muv Luv series is just about all the main characters dying off in the most gory and gruesome way you can imagine, try not getting to attached too them.

No, I'm fine with a male pilot being a main character to. Just as long as it doesn't regulate the girls into lesser roles. Not enough Mecha animes have strong female leads that can dish out the pain too.

I highly suggest you play the last half of Muv-Luv Alternative.
